Great Intro to a Great Game!
I ran this for my group last week and we all had a great time. Fantasy Flight puts a high quality products. The art is fantastic, and the game itself is fun. It is meant to be an introduction to the system and it succeeds at this. If you want to get more in depth, buy the core rulebook. But if you just want to sit down for a night of fun Star Wars role playing, this is hard to beat.

Start your adventure in a galaxy far far away....today!
Edge of the empire is a great RPG system that incorporates a wonderful story telling component. It can be an intimidating system for both game masters and players.

The boxed set does a great job introducing the game, how to play, and how to use the dice mechanics. Not just for the player, but also for the game master.

Included in the box set is a complete set of dice, nice maps, and character tokens. Everything you need to have a great first play of EotE.

The mission is rather simple and can be played in one session. It doesn't offer a ton of variety, but that is not the objective. But it is a lot of fun and a great segway into other EotE adventures.

Solid Purchase
I bought this and the full rulebook, dice and quite a few other supplements. First things first, if you get this you will not be disappointed. Look at the price tag, just the dice are worth the price. The mini rulebook you get is awesome because you can allow the players to pass it around as a spot reference as needed if the main one is being employed. The Beginner Game is awesome because after a little read through with the dm, the players grab characters and just hit the ground running. They learn the rules as they play though step by step examples and exchanges.
I have all the main rulebooks and quite a few supplements and I use the dice, the tokens the 48-page rulebook ever single session and have for months. Solid purchase.

Good components, but a somewhat weak intro to the system
I came to this intro set as someone who was entirely new to RPGs, so I feel like I was largely the target market for this product, but I walked away from it a little underwhelmed.

The components are of typically high FFG quality, and the system itself is interesting, but this intro adventure is far too linear, even for a RPG newbie, and it hampers the ability to actually feel like anything meaningful is happening. This also works against the narrative dice system, as the tasks being attempted were pretty "pass/fail" most of the time, so the advantage and threat system, a key selling point of the system, often came down to, "I guess I'll add a boost die to the next allied character's check. Again. Just like the last few times."

I wasn't completely turned off from the system, but it seems like the beginner rules we so overly simplified that they don't give a very representative impression of what the full game system is actually like.

On the plus side, the set is pretty cheap and includes a set of the dice, as well as some high quality tokens, maps, character sheets, etc., so it is a pretty good value.
