Can be very enjoyable, but tricky to work with
My son wanted to jump into SW RPGs with this system (he's 20) so we went with it. I have been gaming for 30 years and can't say I enjoy this system as much as previous SW games. The book is like a college textbook and the dice are agonizingly difficult to interpret at times. Even the layout/ format of the rules are all over the place with certain rules discussed on one page and then more addendums or add ons to that same ruleset several paragraphs later. The book is overly wordy which can be flat out confusing at times. I do not like that you don't really use miniatures/maps and that tactical situations are based on arbitrary judgments by the GM. Also, there are scores of game situations in which the GM has to constantly interpret the results of advantage/ disadvantage. Running a good game is hard enough, having to constantly think of exciting narration to summarize every dice role is just tedious.

That being said, the book itself is gorgeous! Scores of full page illustrations and artwork make it easily one of the most captivating role playing books I have ever read. Also, while the system was/still is confusing for me, my 20 year old son jumped right into it and has led our group of 5 through some incredibly cool home brewed adventures, which leads me to believe if the desire to play a SW RPG is there, then this system can work.

Best dice system I have ever played with!
Space grit at it's finest. There is a flare of excitement and exploration with a very diverse and interesting character creation and advancement system.

There is a level of intuitive interaction in the dice and they can determine success and failure as well as have actual thematic implications in the story. Such a wonderful system, the tension and creative outlets it adds to the game are profound. My players love it!

Fast creation, very straight forward mechanics, interesting background mechanics. They meld to create one of the most fun roleplaying games I have ever played. The system is loose and fun and allows for non linear growth and development.

Great buy.

Out with the "Swords & Sorcery" and In with "A galaxy far, far away ..."
If I'm being honest, I've always, ALWAYS loved Star Wars and thought it was COOL from that first moment in 1977 ... and onwards into the prequel trilogy, and the Clone Wars series and the new Rebels series. With the wealth of Star Wars lore available, game masters and their players can choose any era, any play style, and have a blast! And I love that Han and Chewie are on the cover!
I also highly recommend this RPG!!!

The Definitive Star Wars RPG
If you watched Star Wars: A New Hope, and thought that a wretched hive of scum and villainy didn't sound so bad, The Edge of the Empire is the RPG core for you. Play as a bounty hunter, hired gun, or even a scientist. Fly around the Star Wars galaxy searching for fame and fortune, or blasting TIE fighters out of the sky.

The Core Rulebook is beautifully illustrated, neatly written, and has everything a GM needs to start writing a detailed campaign. I plan to keep a hold of this for years to come.

The definitive RPG system plus Star Wars!
An amazingly creative RPG system that is quick to learn, extremely flexible, wonderfully fun, and the definition of story telling all packaged within the Star Wars universe.

I cannot praise the mechanics of this system enough:
- Character creation is diverse and players can create a character in under 30 minutes.
- Using a die mechanic, players and the GM can intuitively influence the story through their actions. Providing a simple mechanic that can robustly influence combat, space flight, and NPC dialog.

All of this is wrapped in Fantasy Flight's well crafted bindings filled to the brim glorious Star Wars art.

If you or your group have any love of Star Wars or RPG systems, it is a must try!

One of the most amazing game systems out!
At first I was skeptic, knowing that most Star Wars RPG's never could hold up against other systems. I was amazed at how well this system runs and works, the Die system is very innovative, the system flows well for even the most inexperienced gamer, and the mechanics don't bog your game down. I highly recommend this game!!!!
