Bring balance to your X Wing game
Since I had to have the Millennium Falcon, I thought it only fair to give the young ones s chance and picked up Vader's signature TIE. Vader's 2 actions power turn ability is awesome, and I agree with the other reviewers who mentioned rising an engine upgrade on there. Be careful... My pudgy fingers cracked a wing panel off trying to get it on the stand, but that may be due more to me than the model construction (although this was the first problem of it's sort I encountered, and I don't think I did anything different trying to assemble this one). All in all, it's a must) have, if only to grab Vader and have him lead your Imperials in crushing the Rebels!

Darth Vader
C'mon, there's only one reason why we all want to field this particular ship: Darth Vader! Vader's ability allows him to take two actions, which is great when you need to take a target lock and a focus token in the same turn to ensure those missies you equipped hit that Rebel X-Wing! This ship is quite nimble and a lot of fun to fly. Get one and put Darth Vader at the head of your Tie swarm!

I have you now
I picked up multiple copies to run a mini-swarm equipped with Accuracy Corrector and it works like a charm. This ship really needs the TIE Adv title from the Imperial Raider expansion to really shine. Vader is a solid choice in any list!

Great ship...now
The TIE Advanced has had a rough go of it. With abilities roughly on par with a typical TIE Fighter but a much higher cost, the Advanced just wasn't able to make a strong impression. The only pilot that I ever saw in play until recently was Darth Vader and that was primarily for his high pilot skill and double action ability. Even then, he struggled against pilots like Soontir Fel and Whisper who had potentially better action economy and equal pilot skill attached to more stopping power.

Thankfully, the Imperial Raider expansion set has made the TIE Advanced awesome. The new title and system upgrades make the TIE Advanced potent enough to justify its cost compared to the TIE Fighter as its better resilience can make a real difference. The upgrades even managed to make Maarek Stele, previously one of the worst pilots in the game, a decent pilot to use.

So the TIE Advanced is now a great little ship but buyer beware that the caveat to do so is to either buy an Imperial Raider (or know someone that owns one and is willing to lend you the necessary cards). If you do, you'll have a great threat with a lot of survivability (particularly Vader if supported by Emperor Palpatine on a Decimator or Shuttle).

VADER
I picked up this ship on a whim because I didn't have one and I loved the ship itself. I built a swarm with Vader at the head and holy smokes he's awesome. His pilot ability is getting 2 actions, which is amazingly handy. Great ship.

Get At Least One For Vader
One of the iconic ships from the Star Wars series, this ship let's you field Vader as a pilot, and who doesn't want to fly as Darth Vader (or at least AGAINST Darth Vader)? Vader is a fairly solid choice in the game, the other pilots are a bit over priced (points-wise). The Imperial Raider comes with additional upgrades for Tie-Advanced ships that may make this one a little bit more worth it.

The model is high quality, has an excellent paint job, and is great to look at.

Better than ever!
The TIE Advanced is a very capable starfighter, and with the release of the new Imperial Raider, has become quite fearsome. Although in the past it could be considered "over-costed", with the addition of the TIE Advanced X1 title and an appropriate System upgrade, it is very flexible in its role and capabilities.

The one downside of the way the "fix" was released--as cards contained in the Raider expansion-- is that the buy-in for the fix is rather expensive. On the brighter side, the Raider includes another Advanced and enough of the upgrade cards to cover 4 total Advanced: not coincidentally, the number of Advanced a player can field in a 100-point game. This being the case, I recommend that the TIE Advanced expansion be purchased in multiples of 3, along with one Raider.

Vader
Really the only reason to get this ship is for Darth Vader...and honestly thats reason enough for most star wars fans. This ship is just an odd ball on the table and is a bit too expensive and not durable enough to make it worthwhile. The new imperial raider set has added some life to the ship, but you need to spend a lot of extra money on that set to make this worth while. Having said that, its darth vader, buy the ship!

Its Darth Vader
So yeah, not my favorite ship or Tie in the series, but come on, its Darth Vader. So it is a must. At the moment its no the greatest ship play wise, but I have read that there is a upgrade card in the Raider expansion that makes this a much better ship to play.

Maybe
Me personally I think the advance is"nt worth it. Its probably just me. Most matches I've used this in it really doesn"t help a lot. Vader is cool but still only doing two damage with primary weapons its ok. Not a must have but a cool ship.

FIELDING LORD VADER FEELS SOOOO GOOD...
Vader's TIE Advanced has long been one of my favorite Star Wars vehicles, and I was very excited to add this piece to my X-Wing Miniatures game. I do love how all of the pieces in the game come ready-to-play (unlike many miniatures games where you face the daunting task of painting the pieces before you can really enjoy them) and the detail they manage to fit onto this tiny ship is amazing.

Having Vader is great in itself. The miniature is beautifully painted and crafted, and there's nothing like flying Vader with his wingmen (Mauler and Backstabber, I believe, though you'll need the TIE Fighter expansion for Backstabber) against a Rebel team, hopefully with Luke on it.

If you bought the X-Wing Core Set, you're going to need more ships to make it feel like you're playing the full game, and Vader is a great place to start.

As he wishes!
What an upgrade from the tie fighter! This ship excels in all ways. The major benefactor of having this leading your squad is the one and only Darth Vader!!! His pilot ability suits him well and is a strong presence on the galactic battlefield. Dual actions in one turn is amazing. Get a couple of these bad boys and fly a mini swarm or just do as you wish!

On the Up and Up (and Vader)
This ship is a fantastic addition to your X-Wing Miniatures arsenal. Buy it here on Miniature Market; when I initially got into X-wing, I didn't buy them here, and paid much more. This ship is pretty good; it's essentially a TIE fighter with a target lock action and two shield points. It comes with several upgrade cards than can enhance the ship and other ships in your arsenal. There is also potential for upgrades in the future; the four Advanced x/1 upgrade cards in the Imperial Raider Huge Ship expansion adds a System Upgrade slot, and makes those upgrades cost 4 less squad points (to a minimum of 0). Also Darth Vader; him with an engine upgrade (giving the boost action), makes him an arc dodger (not as good as Soontir Fel, however). Great expansion.

VADERRRRRRR!!!!!
LOVE this model. After receiving the Raider I now have a small squadron of these. Nimble X-Wings. Every time I pilot one I hear James Earl Jones announce "I'm On The Leader!" I collect these more for the model aspect I've realized. Even though I have my own set I use for play. I can't help but buy each and every ship when it releases. These TIE Advanced look amazing , A Definite must buy.

fun ship, if you get the raider also
As others have noted, the ship you get in this package is good, but really needs the upgrade cards from the new Imperial Raider ship to be worth including (hence why I only gave 3 stars for value). Luckily, if you buy the raider, you get another tie advanced, and four copies of the special upgrades. You will want this pack to get the darth vader pilot card. It is a fun ship to play now, and the unique pilots between the two packs have some great abilities.

An X-wing with weaker guns
Up until the recent release of the Imperial Raider, there wasn't much nice to be said about this ship. While Darth Vader was always a decently capable option, the rest of the pilots suffered from a high cost, lack of viable upgrades, and a measly firepower 2. Thankfully, Fantasy Flight recognized these problems and gave us a fix with the Imperial Raider. If you're going to pick this pack up, the Raider becomes almost mandatory, as the included TIE/x1 card opens up a whole new world of possibilities for the Advanced, as do the new pilots. If you'r enot going to make the additional investment into the Raider however, I wouldn't bother with buying more than one of these packs, just so you have access to Vader, though the included "Swarm Tactics" card is also a nice plus.

Just keep an eye on your wingman...
The TIE Advance is an awesome ship, and has stood out since it's trench run debut. On it's own the ship isn't quite as awesome, but the x1 Title in the Imperial Raider pack fixes a lot of it's price issues and leaves you with a powerhouse of a ship. Also, Darth Vader.

Trench Run, Anyone?
This expansion has the usual excellent paint job on the miniature. One of the pilot cards is Darth Vader, so with this expansion you can recreate the famous trench run scene from Star Wars.

Darth Vader!!!
This ship is an upgraded version of a tie fighter and has very similar stats to the x-wing. The great thing about this expansion pack is that it contains Darth Vader, which makes for a fun and interesting game since you have already have Luke from the core set.

It's Darth Vader. . . what else do you need?
We're just beginning and have minimal pieces - the core set, interceptor, a-wing and b-wing. I'm 3 times older than my opponent and I CAN NOT beat Darth Vader for the life of me. I assume my team hasn't been properly developed, but this piece is dynamite.

Who are you kidding? You're picking this one up right after the Core Set and you know it.

Vader's ability allows him to perform TWO actions in a round. The Tie Advanced has the agility of a Tie fighter and the stability of an X-Wing.

Buy it!
