Bring balance to your X Wing game Review by Scott

Since I had to have the Millennium Falcon, I thought it only fair to give the young ones s chance and picked up Vader's signature TIE. Vader's 2 actions power turn ability is awesome, and I agree with the other reviewers who mentioned rising an engine upgrade on there. Be careful... My pudgy fingers cracked a wing panel off trying to get it on the stand, but that may be due more to me than the model construction (although this was the first problem of it's sort I encountered, and I don't think I did anything different trying to assemble this one). All in all, it's a must) have, if only to grab Vader and have him lead your Imperials in crushing the Rebels! (Posted on 1/25/2016)

C'mon, there's only one reason why we all want to field this particular ship: Darth Vader! Vader's ability allows him to take two actions, which is great when you need to take a target lock and a focus token in the same turn to ensure those missies you equipped hit that Rebel X-Wing! This ship is quite nimble and a lot of fun to fly. Get one and put Darth Vader at the head of your Tie swarm! (Posted on 11/21/2015)

I picked up multiple copies to run a mini-swarm equipped with Accuracy Corrector and it works like a charm. This ship really needs the TIE Adv title from the Imperial Raider expansion to really shine. Vader is a solid choice in any list! (Posted on 11/16/2015)
Great ship...now Review by Weatherwax

The TIE Advanced has had a rough go of it. With abilities roughly on par with a typical TIE Fighter but a much higher cost, the Advanced just wasn't able to make a strong impression. The only pilot that I ever saw in play until recently was Darth Vader and that was primarily for his high pilot skill and double action ability. Even then, he struggled against pilots like Soontir Fel and Whisper who had potentially better action economy and equal pilot skill attached to more stopping power.

Thankfully, the Imperial Raider expansion set has made the TIE Advanced awesome. The new title and system upgrades make the TIE Advanced potent enough to justify its cost compared to the TIE Fighter as its better resilience can make a real difference. The upgrades even managed to make Maarek Stele, previously one of the worst pilots in the game, a decent pilot to use.

So the TIE Advanced is now a great little ship but buyer beware that the caveat to do so is to either buy an Imperial Raider (or know someone that owns one and is willing to lend you the necessary cards). If you do, you'll have a great threat with a lot of survivability (particularly Vader if supported by Emperor Palpatine on a Decimator or Shuttle). (Posted on 11/12/2015)

I picked up this ship on a whim because I didn't have one and I loved the ship itself. I built a swarm with Vader at the head and holy smokes he's awesome. His pilot ability is getting 2 actions, which is amazingly handy. Great ship. (Posted on 11/11/2015)

One of the iconic ships from the Star Wars series, this ship let's you field Vader as a pilot, and who doesn't want to fly as Darth Vader (or at least AGAINST Darth Vader)? Vader is a fairly solid choice in the game, the other pilots are a bit over priced (points-wise). The Imperial Raider comes with additional upgrades for Tie-Advanced ships that may make this one a little bit more worth it.

The model is high quality, has an excellent paint job, and is great to look at. (Posted on 10/17/2015)
Better than ever! Review by Robert

The TIE Advanced is a very capable starfighter, and with the release of the new Imperial Raider, has become quite fearsome. Although in the past it could be considered "over-costed", with the addition of the TIE Advanced X1 title and an appropriate System upgrade, it is very flexible in its role and capabilities.

The one downside of the way the "fix" was released--as cards contained in the Raider expansion-- is that the buy-in for the fix is rather expensive. On the brighter side, the Raider includes another Advanced and enough of the upgrade cards to cover 4 total Advanced: not coincidentally, the number of Advanced a player can field in a 100-point game. This being the case, I recommend that the TIE Advanced expansion be purchased in multiples of 3, along with one Raider. (Posted on 10/14/2015)

Really the only reason to get this ship is for Darth Vader...and honestly thats reason enough for most star wars fans. This ship is just an odd ball on the table and is a bit too expensive and not durable enough to make it worthwhile. The new imperial raider set has added some life to the ship, but you need to spend a lot of extra money on that set to make this worth while. Having said that, its darth vader, buy the ship! So yeah, not my favorite ship or Tie in the series, but come on, its Darth Vader. So it is a must. At the moment its no the greatest ship play wise, but I have read that there is a upgrade card in the Raider expansion that makes this a much better ship to play. (Posted on 10/10/2015)
