Don't go into this expecting immense competition...
Exactly what my title says... Don't go into this game expecting huge, immense competition and mechanics... Go into it hoping for a fun, mindless game! If your gaming group consists of people who enjoy more heavy games (Blood Rage, Runewars come to mind!), yet tolerate small games like Love Letter, Hanabi, and Splendor... This would be a good choice for you. However, when it's not your turn... you sit there... doing nothing, waiting till it's your turn again. Objectives are kept secret and so this avoids direct social interaction. This brings me to my next point, if you're into more direct contact/social interaction/deduction/deception games, stick to Love Letter, Coup, or The Resistance!

Great game, even for non gamers.
This is one of the first games I played, even before being a gamer. This game has amazing quality and it looks beautiful on the table. However, some people might be put off by the cartoonish / cutesy looks of it. It might look like a childish game, but it's not. It's easy to learn how to play it, but even though the rules are simple the game is still engaging.

I think this game should be in everybody's collection.

A must for families
Takenoko has such eye catching components it can lure even your non-gaming child to the table. The streamlined mechanics, the beautiful artwork, and engaging gameplay ensures that this game will frequently hit your family gaming table. There is enough strategy to keep your gamer family members happy , and it's simplistic rule set makes it accessible to children as young as eight. I highly recommend this for your families collection.

Instant classic
Talk about a fun themed game with top notch components. Takenoko is an easy to teach, easy to learn fun family game that can still hold up to a game with friends and gamers. The components alone are worth the price of admission. A must own and classic in the making.

Fun fame to play with family
I've had this game for a while now and it's usually popular with anyone we play it with. My wife and I enjoy playing it with all of our family and friends. The quality of the game pieces is quite high with nice wooden bamboo pieces. Definitely worth the price.

For all family
What's not to like about this game? The artwork is amazing. The quality of the components are outstanding. The rules are easy to understand and easy to teach. What's really cool about the game is how it starts out a little slow but then progressively speeds up because a lot of land tiles will be laid out and a lot of bamboo will have already been grown. Great game and the kids love it as well.

a beautiful game
This game continues to stand out as the MOST AESTHETICALLY PLEASING board game in our collection. I was concerned that it was going to be a "Settlers" type of gameplay, but was pleased to find there was so much more to this game. It is also intuitive enough that it is a great family game down to a 6 year old level, yet complex and strategic enough to continue to pull out. Takenoko has a special spot in our list of favorites!

I love everything about this game
Takenoko is so fun! It's easy enough for beginners, but with enough strategic elements to keep more advanced players interested. Don't be fooled by the bright colors of the pieces and think they are plastic. All of the bamboo pieces and player tokens are wooden (the actual panda and farmer are plastic, but are still really nice). The gameplay is simple enough, you earn points by completing task cards (kind of like ticket cards in ticket to ride). You can either feed the panda certain types of bamboo, place and irrigate certain colors of land plots in specific formations, or grow several stocks of bamboo to a specific height. This game is fast, fun, colorful, and expertly crafted.

A great game for gamers to play with non-gamers.
This game is simple yet deep enough to still be engaging. This is one of the few games I can play with my seven year old and still feel like we can both be competitive. It is a great family game that will appeal to gamers when they want to play with family. Not to mention the components and cuteness alone will draw others into the hobby.

A fun simple game
I recently picked up this game to play with the family, was fairly easy to pick up. The game can be easy to win at times, but the advanced rules help mitigate that and I will have to give them a try.

Excellent
This is a fun, cute, and lighter strategy game that I really enjoy playing. Luck can play a big role in who wins the game but there is an advanced rule that can help reduce this.
