Very Unique Scenarios Once You Read Through
Sister accidentally bought this instead of normal Seafarers, so this sat around for a little while. You will need Seafarers to play this. That being said, we had 3 of us playing and had the time, so we read through and this was really a great addition to Catan. The scenarios all tell a short story of what's happening on the islands of Catan, and each of the 4 scenarios builds on the previous one. We only did 2 so far, and they were a little complex to setup, but very fun once you get going. This set comes with a lot of pieces and interesting stuff, so there is definitely a lot in there.

An example of the scenario we liked, is there is no Iron/rock on Catan. Every one starts with 3 settlements instead of 2, and everyone's 3rd settlement must be placed on the coast. All iron/rock is on a second major island across the sea. There are refugees that you can rescue once you build enough ships to get to the other island where all the iron/rock is. These refugees are the ones who have knowledge of mining, so once you help them, they are your means of acquiring iron/rock. So you can decide to go that route within the context of the game, or you can just try to win normally, and just forsake that way. Use other resources to trade with the bank and try to get iron/rock that way. There are 3 other scenarios, but this was one we enjoyed.
