The machine's main weapon is a heavy spear designed to keep adversaries at bay, and its sturdy shield generates a shock field capable of burning out a warjack's cortex on contact. The Lancer is valued most of all, however, for its arc node. A device of unquestionable utility, the arc node allows a warcaster to extend his arcane reach across the battlefield.A player may field any number of Lancers in a Cygnar army.
SPECIAL NOTE: PIP31085 is similar to PIP31006 in that it contains the same Mk II stat card. The model in this box represents the same figure in the game. However, the model in PIP 31085 is a new sculpt and therefore looks different from the model in PIP 31006. In addition, the model is plastic rather than metal.

- Cygnar's Heartier-than-thou Light ArcNode
Modeling: 4/5 A detailed mini with a lot of character owing to it's Spear and Shield. Be careful handling, the spear's tip can be fragile.
Game: Cygnar Arc-node; Friendly to Warcasters with strong offensive spells or for extending the usability of your Warcaster's short-range spells.

Firstly the modeling. If you can, put a pin the spear's shaft. The tip likes to break off. An otherwise very nice looking model, if not for that little irritating tidbit - please store it carefully.
Being the shorter, smaller brother to the Centurion, the Lancer shares it's 'chassis' with the Charger. That means that the shoulders, legs and smokestack are all going to look like the Charger and the Sentinel, who share this Chassis. Here however, the Lancer's spear and it's shield make it instantly distinguishable across the table. It is a high quality model with appreciable detail.
In game terms. Your mileage may vary. It has fairly balanced stats with abilities and it's shield providing for a strong defense in the forward arc. IF you're using it to defend your warcaster, there are better choices. In melee, it acquits itself well with some unique cortex-smashing abilities and extra defense when being charged - but there are also better options for the points. If you're using it for it's Arcnode, it can carry a utility that might outweigh it's points cost.
If you have a castery Warcaster, it can be indispensable for spreading your ability to control the battlefield around with it's Arc-node, allowing the Warcaster to cast their spells as if standing in the Lancer's spot. Being heartier than most Light Warjacks, but not quite as hearty as the Devout, it serves it's role as an Arc-Node quite well. It supports Haley and Nemo well, and Stryker's 'Earthquake' can be a game changer in the right hands with the Lancer.
