So Arkham Horror is daunting, Mansions of Madness is quite a setup, but you have that itch for horror and you need to scratch it. Try Elder Sign. In the same vein of Fantasy Flight card and dice games Elder Sign shines fairly bright. Every play through is different because the cards you draw are random. The quality of the artwork is, as we've come to expect from FFG, excellent. It strikes the right chords and pulls on the right emotions from the darker side of the brain. You can feel the tension as things build to a crescendo and by the end you will be shouting at the dice and crying out in despair or victory when you toss your dice and determine your fate. The game plays quicker than its more involved counterparts, for gameplay it may take a game or two for you to master the mechanics and determine a strategy. This game is an excellent representation of the tense horror genre that doesn't require a huge amount of setup!
