Blood Rage

Blood Rage is a great example of beautifully-entertwined, tried-and-true game mechanisms, gorgeous components, and concise gameplay encircled by an amazing theme: Norse Mythology.

In Blood Rage, 2-4 (5 w/expansion) players take on the role of a Viking clan bent on dying most gloriously in Ragnarok. Cool Mini Or Not has once again done a fantastic job with their components, and with the central game mechanisms of Territory Control, Action Selection, Resource Management, Card Combat, and Objective Achievement masterfully delivered in this design by Eric Lang.

Your first game or two will likely take 1.5x to 2x longer than the printed time of 60-120 minutes, especially if you play with 4 or 5 new players. However, once players understand the rules and become familiar with the cards, the game can move along at a decent clip.

For a strategy game using the above-mentioned mechanisms, no game delivers this much game, this well-honed, and immerses you in the Norse Mythos as Blood Rage. Highly recommended...and you WILL want to paint these miniatures for an even richer thematic experience.
