Boss Monster: The Dungeon Building Card Game

Boss Monster: The Dungeon Building Card Game

Product Review (submitted on November 12, 2015):
I've played better games than Boss Monster, but few that bring the nostalgia of NES and Sega Genesis gaming into tabletop and card games in such a clever way. The instructions don't give the best idea of how to play the game, so I suggest you watch a How-To-Play video online before you get started. Like many deckbuilding games, you don't have much chance of doing well within the first few rounds, but once the ball gets rolling, you can easily see who will come out on top.

You play the Boss Monster, not the hero, so your job is to build the deadliest dungeon possible so as to destroy the highest number of heroes you can. Spell cards can give you advantages or give your opponent disadvantages that can swing the game in your favor.

It's not perfect, but there are plenty of ways you can alter the published rules to give your game a little more variety. This game is much better the more people you add into the mix. You can also combine the sequel, Boss Monster 2 as an expansion and add more than 4 players if you like (or you can play Boss Monster 2 all by itself as a standalone game).
