Dark Heaven Bones: Brass Bull

Dark Heaven Bones: Brass Bull

Product Review (submitted on November 15, 2018):
Good, solid, beefy (ha!) model, playing to the strengths of Reaper's "Bones" line. I hate to imagine what it would be like to try to deal with a PEWTER version of this same model (probably hollow multi-part, and STILL weighing a ton), but it works great in plastic. The integral base looks like cracked tiles and incorporates nicely if you want to glue the thing down onto a larger base (square or round) for particular game systems. I've painted this same model up in multiple ways. For one, I first base-coated it a pewter grey, then painted in bronze and highlighted with Inca Gold, for a very quick paint job with a striking look. For another, I did a conversion to make a "mutant bull" (two-headed) for a retro post-apocalyptic setting, painting it up in mahogany/red with nice results. The "scales" help to break up what might otherwise be large, smooth surfaces, making it very easy to achieve interesting looks with simple wash-and-drybrush, but of course more detailed work can have its place. It makes for an impressive model on the table even with the most basic paint job, for a pretty good price as miniatures of this size go.
