Point Salad

Product Review (submitted on July 30, 2020):
I picked this up at the store based on an employee recommendation. That's one of the awesome things about the store, the employees are knowledgeable and fun to talk games with.

The game itself is quick to learn, offers some challenging strategy that scales to the player's experience and plays out fairly fast.

Unlike most draft style card games, everything is played out in the open. The draft pool is displayed in rows on the table and drafted cards are placed in front of players on the table.

Players must draft "salad" cards that will generate point values. They must also draft point cards that determine how the salad cards will be scored each round. This system is easy to pick up on after a round or two of the game. The unique draft system of point cards leads to each round of play being entirely different than the one before.

Quick card games are great for short game play sessions with the family or gaming groups. My gaming group keeps some of these on hand to help fill time between heavier games or to give players something quick to play while waiting for another game to wrap up. As a family, we pull out a game like this on nights when we have some things planned but our night is not completely booked.

Light games like this often struggle with replayability, however. Typically, we play them once or twice and then they gather dust on our shelf. Point Salad has found it's way to our table frequently since joining our library. Every game feels different and unique and remains as fun as the last time.

I'd recommend this game to anyone that is looking for a light card game with plenty of replayability!
