1:100 ScaleThe M103 heavy tank was designed to counter Soviet heavy tanks, such as the later IS-series or the T-10, if a ground war in Europe broke out. Its long-ranged M58 120mm gun was designed to destroy enemy tanks at extreme ranges.By the mid-1960s the M103s had been upgraded to the M103A2 model. It featured improved sights, stereoscopic rangefinder, and a ballistic computer. It also got same powerful diesel engine as the M60 tank, which increased its road range to 295 miles (480 km) and maximum speed to 23 mph (37 km/h).The M103 was well armoured with front on line-of-sight armour on 10-inches (250mm) on its turret front and 5-inches (125mm) at 60 degrees on its hull front. 1:100 ScaleThe mechanised infantry were organised the same as normal rifle platoons with two exceptions. The most obvious was the provision of M113 armoured personnel carriers, known as "tracks" to their crews. Less obvious, but more important in many operations was the addition of an M60 machine-gun to each squad. This was a significant boost in firepower, especially when combined with the new M16 assault rifles and M79 grenade launchers.The M113 was introduced to United States Army Europe in 1961 to replace the mechanised infantry's M59 armoured personnel carriers (APCs). The M113 is the first aluminium hull combat vehicle to be put into mass production. This makes it much lighter than earlier similar all-steel vehicles like the M59. 1:100 ScaleThe T-10 heavy tank is the final development of the IS (Iosif Stalin) heavy breakthrough tank series. It was accepted into production in 1952 as the IS-10, but due to the political climate in the wake of Stalin's death in 1953, it was renamed T-10.The T-10 is larger, better armoured and armed than its direct predecessor the IS-3, though it does share many of the features of the IS-3 such as its domed turret and well-sloped front hull armour. It is armed with a long 122mm M-62-T2 gun with good range and very good armour penetration characteristics introduced with the its upgrade in 1957 to the T-10M standard.
