Never have I seen an expansion with such raw power before. These guys get it done. Kittens are hard core board staters with abilities to knock out their own. mix with the OG Zombies and you have an absolute power house. The fairies are the second half of geeks and a god send answer for anyone who thinks it’s fun to play with steampunks or cyber apes. Princesses, dear lord. All one of 5 power minions and they don’t play fair with frying pans and true love’s kisses. And ponies. THE PONIES! Because we needed one more reason to play with our robots. This expansion is a MUST have addition to your game. You wont regret the added power to any game of smash up.

Don't let the pretty facade fool you, Pretty Pretty Smash Up is a hard-hitting addition to Smash Up. First, there's a number of cards that let the player choose from two options, allowing for some potent variability. With a lot of Smash Up feeling random and situatonal, allowing players more choice in what they can do is certainly welcome. The factions are also nice and nasty (with an adorable facade) with some great control abilities to take over units or boost your minions. The art is, as usual, top notch cartooning and the cards are a nice glossy cardstock. Owners of the Big Geeky Box will be happy to see that this set includes the dividers for the new factions (as will presumably be the case for each expansion from here on). Perhaps the only issue I could see is that the theming could be seen as a way to draw in younger kids (particularly little girls) or inexperienced players more interested in cats, faeries, and princesses than zombies and robots, but the gameplay for some of the new cards can be pretty complex.

Don't be fooled by the cute exterior this set fits in wonderfully with the rest of the game. Pretty Pretty introduces a lot of fun new strategies that mix very well with other expansions. Taking control and sacrificing other players minions as well as mechanics encouraging teamwork within your factions are just a couple examples. A must have especially for the low price point.

Pretty Pretty Smash Up took me by surprise. This is one of my favorite expansions for the game in terms of theming. It's incredibly satisfying to defeat your opponents using kittens and pretty horses. I think Smash Up! is at it's strongest when the faction combinations are as silly as possible and these four factions add a lot to the zaniness of the game. The artwork is brilliant as usual and aside from being cute and hilarious, these factions are no joke. When used effectively, some of them might be the strongest in the system. Definitely a must own for Smash Up! fans!
