The Army Painter Warpaint: Zombicide Paint Set 2nd Edition

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

If you have to choose between the 'Zombicide Zombie Core Paint Set' and the 'Zombicide 2nd Edition Paint Set' I'd recommend you only purchase the Zombicide 2nd Edition Paintset. I purchased (off of the Miniature Market Paint sale) several different 'Zombicide Zombie Paint Sets' and the only set where I found duplicates were between the Zombe Core Paint Set (which has 10 paints) and the Zombie 2nd Edition Paint Set (which has 20 paints). I want to say 8 or 9 of the ones in the Core Paint Set are also in the 2nd edition paint set. I was presuming that the 2nd edition was 'augmenting' the core paint set not for the most part 'including' the same paints as the Core Paint Set. Both come with brushes and the 2nd edition paint set comes with a 'free figure' of 'Phil'. So overall, the better bang for the buck for more paint as well as a brush and a figure is the Zombiside 2nd Edition Paint Set. Having stated the above. The Army Painter Warpaints are a good average use miniature paint and I use them along with Vallejo, Reaper, and Games Workshop paints. The paints come in 0.6 fl oz/18ml bottles with eye dropper type tops which are better than the 'pots' of paint you can find in other brands. You get 17 different paints and 3 different washes/shades as follows: Paints: Filthy Suit*, Crusted Sore*, Dirt Spatter*, Suvivor Skin, Wanda Blonde, Rotten Skin, Zombie Skin*, Pale White, Glistening Blood*, Molotov Flame, Wasted Jeans*, Depot Green, Mouldy Clothes*, Abomination Skin, Dead Black*, Machine Gun Metal, Shotgun Metal *These 8 colors are also in the Zombie Core Paint Set Washes/Shaders: Dark Tone, Flesh Wash, Strong Tone Overall, the purchase was a good purchase and I like and use Army Painter paints along with other brands - but from the various sets of 'Zombie' paints, this one and the 'Zombie Core Base Set' were the only ones where I noticed duplication - hence the 3 star review.

Great starting box

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

It is a cheap and nice way to start painting specific miniatures with a pre-made paint bundle. And Army Painter paints has high quality and comfortable bottles.

Two thumbs up!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I appreciate the Phil Character and Dashboard that came woth the set. When you first open the package you will see that all paints are organized and has plastic dividers seperating the paints and brush. It comes with a pamphlet with some information on painting with some examples as you read. I definitely recommend this product.

Great pigmentation, fast drying

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

These are the best acrylic paints I've tried from Army painter. Great pigmentation, smooth and even coverage, and dries fast. Colors are vivid and do not weaken as they dry.

Everything needed to start painting Zombicide: 2nd Edition miniatures

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This set is geared more towards the first time painter. The Army Painter paints have good coverage, though some colors might be a little thick (not a big deal if you normally thin down (which you should be doing anyway) your paints on palette). I've been using The Army Painter paints for a few years now and have found them to be easy to work with. Over all, this is a good starter set -- plus you get a free mini (originally a Kickstarter exclusive) and mixing balls.
