Absolutely Adore this Set!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Highly Recommend. I got some Reaper paints at the same time and a couple of shades coordinate really nicely: Elven Armour works pretty well with Reaper's Icy Violet 09425. It is not a dark blue it's more towards periwinkle, the name makes more sense seeing it in person lol Royal Purple is a bright purple that looks like it'll work easily with shades like Reaper's Runic Purple 09424 or Eldritch Purple 09463 Zephyr Pink.. It's pink, it's metallic, it's smooth and also goes on well but I'm not really into pink Glitter Green is a little light for my tastes, not necessarily pastel but kind of like Easter basket grass green. I'm considering mixing in a dash of my favorite green (Reaper's Brilliant Green) and seeing what happens :) I'm planning to work Tainted Gold (sickly yellow-y green, like moss, or cartoon vomit) into my Young Green Dragon. I want to work in some menacing Metallics even though he's a chromatic dragon. Follow your heart ;) Azure Magic is gorgeous! I feel like this is already one of the most treasured paints in my collection. It's so distinctive and I'm officially dying to paint an ocean scene for D&D and a million sea creatures! Evil Chrome, beautifully pigmented again, different from my other coppers. I'm sure it'll come in handy! Gemstone Red? LOVE. My first metallics were Turbo Dork and extremely dissapointing, their red was almost magenta and more of a pale wash with a hint of sparkle at best. I use Gemstone as a BASE COAT for little armor details! It's gorgeous. With Citadel's Spiritstone Red on top I'm able to make my ideal metallic beautiful bright shiny red and I'm incredibly grateful for the detailed reviews I read online for this set of Army Warpaint Metallics that convinced me to buy it! Fairy Dust- guys.. This covers better than I thought possible. I was blown away when I did my initial tests in my notebook, after first shaking to get out the excess fluid I make myself a quick color reference. A thick line of this can cover up the lines in my notebook... Incredibly nice, also silky smooth and you could use this for a winter white cloak, orrrr sparkling seafoam on a Dungeons & Dragons ocean scene or at least something more than detailing. So many options! My White Dragon is getting a magical sparkling wash on his wings, he's gonna be magnificent. Night Scales was somehow a bit of a disappointment for me. I was excited and I bought another bottle separately. It somehow doesn't cover quite as well but covers enough to obscure details beneath. I haven't figured out a way to use it as a wash successfully. It just kinda goes on dulling too much color and kinda too silvery? But I'm an amateur I just tested (separately each time) with Vallejo wash medium (which I disliked, smelled aweful and separated but maybe it's only meant for their washes), water, various Citadel Contrast Paints and Reaper's drying retardant. Applied straight it dries a bit blue toned. Reaper's Adamantium Black is my Black-black metallic go to for now. It has a note of deep charcoal grey, less cool toned than Night Scales. For the most part, these lay on beautifully and you probably don't need a base color underneath but you certainly could. Lots of options and the smooth pigmentation really opens up a whole other world of inspiration. Side note for comparison: Reaper's Sparkling Amethyst is a rich deep purple and worth having even if you own this set, it's completely different but still really nice. I'd recommend Cursed Gold from Reaper if you want a yellow for your metallic rainbow collection! It came with my other set and it's the perfect addition Also Army Painter's mixing balls? Incredibly useful with these. And after these (set comes with some) I'm glad I bought more, every paint I own has one in it. Especially Citadel lmao.

Some are hopelessly dried out.

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

I purchased this set a few weeks ago. The first two or three colors were great! Nice coverage, great vibrancy, etc. Unfortunately, four of the paints were completely dried out. I tried squishing and everything else I could try... the pigment was a rock in a soup. I called Myminiaturemarket and let them know. Really great folks! They send me a new kit. Unfortunately, this one had maybe three completely dried-out paints. Even worse, two of them were the same ones from the previous pack. I love Army paints and heartily recommend them... but maybe give this pack a miss.

A set of metallic paints that go on smoothly and without blotting. If you have a particular project in mind, it's probably better to only buy the metallics you need. However, if you just want to play with metallic paints and test things out then this gives you a wide enough selection to have some great fun.

Great Paint - just don't order in winter

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

The paints in this set are great. I only had an issue with two paints, which are their two new colors: Elven Armour (blue) and Gemstone (red). They're experiencing a production issue that leads to the paint becoming unusable if exposed to temperatures below freezing. All that said, the Army Painter customer service was excellent, replacing my paints for free and in a short time frame.

Shiny

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

It's good. Some colors are kinda weird like green and pink and need two coats, but most are easily done in one coat. Good stuff.

Outstanding Metallic Paints.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

These colors are fun and add wonderful depth to any palette. All go on smoothly and cover well with a couple of thinned coats. The Fairy Dust is especially handy. Mix it with any color to produce a slightly lighter glitter version. It mixed well with a thinned Clear Blue for the pictured mini. Get this set, folks. It does not disappoint.

These paints have proven to be great for my minis. The other night I got to use four from this set, and they turned out amazing! Minimal shrinkage from drying, the colors are strong and beautiful, I cannot recommend them enough
