The Thing @ 52:51

A dangerous alien, capable of taking any form, has been released from its hibernation after millennia. The researchers of Outpost 31, isolated in Antarctica, are the only ones who can stop the creature. The future of humanity is in their hands...

The Thing: The Boardgame is an intense game experience for 1-8 players based on the 1982 cult movie directed by John Carpenter.

Immerse yourself in a highly cinematic atmosphere full of pathos. Manage the base wisely using your actions while you look for a way to escape. . . but first, you have to find out who, among the players at the table, is The Thing, hiding under a veil of fake humanity.

You must cooperate to survive - but who is really on your side? And if you reveal The Thing - are you ready to fight it?

Entertaining and intriguing game.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I played this game with a bunch of friends and it was a riot! You never fully know the direction the game will take or how things will turn out but there definitely is an element of fun and intrigue in the game.

True to the movie

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

The game is a must have for fans of the movie. The components are nicely detailed, and great artwork though out. Recommend picking up the miniatures for better gameplay.

After one play

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I was able to get this on the table with 5 players total. Everyone had fun with it once we figured out everything. The social aspect was fun, especially as the game went on and there may be more aliens. The gameplay is not really what I would call complicated once we got into the swing of it. The only mechanic I can’t really speak on is playing with the revealed alien. In our game, the alien managed to stay hidden the whole time. And win.

Fun hidden traitor game

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

better than Battlestar but you really need 5 or more for best results. We enjoyed it at 4 but saw the need for more players to add to the drama. No Childs????

The Thing review

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

It's called The Thing:the board game, however there is in fact another called Infection at Outpost 31. The other has better artwork and tighter gameplay. However, this game adds some really cool mechanics that make it worth having both copies for. Example, if you were the thing and got revealed in Outpost 31 it's game over. Here you can reveal whenever you want and continue playing!

Nice quality product, but not a beginners’ game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Fabulous detailed board and high quality pieces. There are a lot of moving parts to game play and I’m a bit concerned about how easy it will be for my friends to grasp the game although I haven’t played the game yet. This is more of a veteran board gamers’ game, not for novices.

Hope You Brought Enough Blood Bags

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

With almost any media, I find myself groaning whenever I hear about any IP being redeveloped I’m a new form, and the same is true with board games. But when I heard good things about The Thing, it definitely piqued my interest, especially as social deduction is one of my group’s favorite genre. Luckily enough, it managed to impress everyone at the table. The tension was palpable, the action mechanics were clean, and at no point was anyone ever sure who The Thing was. There’s only a couple things keeping this from being a 5. The first is that the player powers can somewhat shoehorn you into doing specific actions, which gets a bit repetitive. The second is that it is difficult (especially for new players) to figure out the best course of action as The Thing. We have yet to play with the Norwegian Outpost expansion, so I’m not sure if that will help with either of these issues. Overall, it’s definitely something to try if you’re into social deduction/hidden traitor games, but I would look elsewhere for your first foray.
