The Neo-Babylonian Empire, especially under the reign of Nebuchadnezzar II (605-562 B.C.), was a period of rebirth for southern Mesopotamia. Irrigation systems improved and expanded, increasing agricultural production. Urban life flourished with the creation of new cities, monuments and temples, and the consequent increase in trade.

In Babylonia, players try to make their clan prosper under the peace and imperial power of that era. They must place their nobles, priests, and craftsmen tokens on the map to create relations with the cities as profitable as possible. Properly placing these counters next to the court also allows players to gain the special power of some rulers. Finally, the skilled use of their peasants in the fertile areas gives more value to their crops. The player who gets the most points through all these actions wins.

Babylonia

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Such great production. The wooden pieces are charming and the interior box art is a nice touch. Also really appreciate the smaller rectangle box (just a little wider than an Agricola box).

Reiner Knizia does it again

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This is a Knizia classic, easy to learn, fast playing, but very deep with a ton of very interesting choices. It's also highly interactive. The only downside I can think of is that 2p while still very good, is probably not as good as 3-4. A great game for sure.

One of Reiner Knizia's tile-laying games. I haven't played any of the others, so I can't compare this one, but I do really enjoy it. Fun decisions, plenty simple, but always opportunities for really interesting turns.

Simple Rules - Strategic Gameplay

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Babylonia is a very approachable game with a short rulebook. However, the strategic landscape is very large. I love how approachable this game is for people not familiar with complex board gaming, but offers enough depth to keep experienced gamers entertained and engaged. Highly recommend

Knizia is back!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent tile-laying game. Great wooden pieces. Multiple strategies available and highly interactive as you and your opponents block each other across the board. Plays well at all counts.

Interesting area majority game

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

I've played this at two player and it plays significantly faster than I anticipated. It is an interesting take on area majority and while the scoring is a little fiddly once you get a game or two in it's fine. There is some luck of the draw in how you replenish your tokens, but there are risk management options from capturing ziggurats. It's a fun game that presents an interesting challenge in balancing your own path while trying to limit what your opponent can accomplish.

After few plays

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Simple rules but lot of strategy. This seems one of those games that will never get old. Nice wood components.
