7 Wonders Duel: Agora Expansion

My wife and I have played the original version and the paneon version dozens of times. And the game still brings pleasure and excitement. This add-on is just a nice breath of fresh air, with some new, albeit pantheon-like mechanics.

I like this expansion. If you don't have the first expansion, Pantheon, and you'd have only Agora as an option, you'd still be getting a great expansion. There's a lot of little rules to keep track of in this expansion, but if you already love the game it shouldn't be too hard to keep track of. But the voting system is great, I love how you're adding cubes to the extra piece of board to keep track of votes in the senate to gain powers and points. There are additioanl wonder cards, science tokens and two new decks. The new decks offer great powers that are very strong. A nice change is also being able to end the game prematurely by having control over the entire senate at any point.

Have played the original duel many times both physical and on board game arena. This expansion feels overly complicated and unbalanced. Distracts from what I would define as the core gameplay which I find very fun by itself. I could see this as a must buy or good purchase if you feel the base game needs additional content but if you’re satisfied with the game as is, no need to buy this.

Great expansion! Definitely worth the purchase!

The base game of 7 wonders duel is really awesome. This expansion adds just enough mechanics to make the game fresh again if you have played the base game a lot and are ready for something a little more!

Blue cards are now more valuable because they are key to making moves in the Senate (controlling the entire senate is another win condition). Money is still key to doing well. Love the swings back and forth and the mystery decrees that get revealed once someone controls a chamber.

My partner and I love this expansion. We played around 20 games of the base game before getting it. It added a bit more complexity and length to the game, but we think it’s a great addition to the experience as we were already used to the base game. This expansion adds new opportunities for twists and surprises and I’d definitely recommend it if you enjoy the base game. I haven’t played the other expansion , but am waiting for Pantheon to arrive soon :)

The best expansions are those that seamlessly fit into the base game. That is the case for the Agora expansion for 7 Wonders Duel. The majority of the expansion mechanisms simply reward you for things that you already want to do in the base game. It adds another victory condition that aligns with the new mechanisms, and it seems like a viable new condition. Though science is still the easiest way to win the game.
