The second game in the Escape the Dark series, Escape the Dark Sector is a simple, sci-fi adventure game with a focus on atmosphere, storytelling and player cooperation - perfect for newcomers to tabletop gaming. It takes about 2 minutes to set up, lasts around 45 minutes, and no two games are ever the same.

Playing as the beleaguered crew of an impounded starship, players find themselves confined to the detention block of a vast space station. Using a variety of advanced gear and weaponry, they will embark on a desperate mission to find their ship and blast their way home. Along the way, the crew will have to overcome a variety of dangers, traps, and terrors. From cyborg guards and faulty replicators to killer alien organisms, each challenge is represented by a large, beautifully illustrated chapter card.

As these immersive chapter cards are revealed one by one, the game takes on the form of a shared storybook experience, with the players making decisions about what to do each chapter before using a combination of dice and item cards to complete the task before them. The goal of the game is to complete every chapter, and then defeat the final boss. To win, you must keep each member of the crew alive - if any player is killed the game ends immediately!

Great story telling game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Get it. If you're a fan of escape the dark castle, you'll love this game. Who doesn't love sci fi??

Ominous and exciting!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Escape the Dark Sector is a wild ride from start to finish (or death, which is more likely than you may think!). The cards are all beautifully designed and the mechanics are fairly simple. A good game for solo play, as well as with friends.

What will you find lurking in the corners of the space station?

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

I really enjoy this as a solo endeavour, but it also works well at higher player counts. Each space station you develop in this interstellar dungeon crawler is unique — you never know what’s just around the corner. I really enjoy games where you can develop a story as the game moves forward and Escape from the Dark Sector does that pretty well. The art work by Alex Crispin is really immersive and adds to the unfolding story of your crew as they make their way into the depths of a space station. While very repayable, after several rounds of play you do tend to come across the same events over and over again — and rather than read the flavour text for each event, I found that I just tended to jump right into the action. Is this such a bad thing? Not so much as I still enjoyed the decision making and combat, but it did detract a bit from the immersion. Still a really great game with a fun theme!

I love the aesthetic of this game. The components are all very nice, including the box itself. The gameplay is highly enjoyable with the right group. A great add to my collection!

Great for quick adventures

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

You couldn't ask for a better family weight adventure game. A little bit of randomness but a whole lot of fun. Even my wife likes playing it and she hates fantasy/ sci-fi games. Tons of replayability. Solid 8 out of 10 from me.

Don't let this one escape you!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Quick set up and play time. Fairly simple rules and you'll be playing in no time. When I first saw the game I wasn't thrilled about the black & white artwork. After ordering and playing, I couldn't have been more wrong. It captures the mood well. And is reminiscent of fantasy/sci-fi art you would see in your game manuals from the seventies and eighties. Love all the dice. If you were a fan of the choose your own adventure books, then I think you would enjoy. You have more options here though. Combat is some and fun and is not always beneficial. It's a challenge to win. As of yet, I have only played solo but look forward to playing co-op with friends and family. The only reason I don't give a 5 for game play is that the dice control a lot of what happen. You do have certain things (item cards and cybernetic implants) that can modify some dice rolls. No matter, it is still a blast to play. Nice components and instructions are pretty clear for the most part. Hope this helps. Time to try to make it to the ship!

This game is great. I've read rave reviews about Escape the Dark Castle but I'm not into dungeon games so I was happy to see this.
