Name of the Wind

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

I have never read the books the Name of the Wind expansion is based on, so I don't really care for the elements it adds to the game. I bought it to add extra cards to the base game. Maybe this is great if you want a themed fantasy adventure, but I prefer the non specific storytelling of the original. Not a necessary expansion to own.

Okay for the new cards

Average rating of 2 out of 5 stars

The new mechanic is interesting, but there're so few cards that use it it feels almost worthless. Many new cards also don't make much sense unless you've read the book the expansion is based on. Having to remove the vast majority of the base game's cards to 'add' this expansion was also very unappealing. The artwork is still beautiful, but I ended up ignoring the rules and mashing everything (that made sense) together to add more variety to the base game's cards, and will likely add more Name icons to my current cardpool when I get the sleeves.
