On time and packaged like a hardback should be. Not smashed corners or dings.

A must have if you’re playing Battletech
Provides more expanded rules than the base AGOAC book. Very highly recommended that you purchase this especially if you’re wanting to run mechs with anything but the most basic equipment. I cannot recommend this book enough.

A much needed addition!
The manual is well-written and organized. All the rules and info you could need to play Inner Sphere and Clan games are right there at your 55 ton ShadowHawk fingertips.

Maybe mention it's the Rules manual?
The layout is good. For me anyway. Good reference's to where other content, or expansion, is for a particular rule is located. Much better wording on rules as well. A much better product then just 10 years ago would have been.

Excellent Addition to a Legendary Game System
The Catalyst edition of the Battletech Battlemech Manual is very well done. This book is for those BT players who think BT should be all about the 'mechs (as it should be). You will find no rules for conventional vehicles or infantry, nor aerospace fighters, nor anything else that is not related specifically to battlemechs. However, you will find in one place, everything that DOES relate to 'mechs, from movement and combat, to customization rules. The hardbound volume is in full color throughout, copiously illustrated both with artwork and game related examples of play and tables. The rules presentation is concise, with no fiction included, making this a slimmer rule book than many of the other Catalyst tomes. it clocks in at only 146 pages, but they are probably the most useful 146 pages I've seen in a BT rule book in a long time. Total War is the comprehensive rule book, and it too is well done, but I find this is the book that I have table side for every game. It's much easier to look up the information we need with this one due to its smaller size and more focused layout. If you are just starting out with BT, I would recommend getting this book before getting the Total War rule book. Using this and the core box (Battletech: A Game of Armored Combat), you have everything you need to play hundreds of fun and interesting games of Battletech

Excellent product that gives players what they need to play Battlemech vs Battlemech battles.
The Battletech: Battlemech Manual gives you what you need to engage in classic Mech vs Mech combat. While the rules aren't any different from what has been presented in Battletech: Total Warfare, this abridged version rewords rules for clarity, only focusing on battlemech combat, and is a lighter book to take with you to your gaming location. There are a few things I especially like with this book. The first is that it not only includes the Design Quirks list previously available in other publications, but it also includes "Battlemech Quirk Table" with recommended quirks for the plethora of battlemechs already out in print. Second, it has a small section titled Common Misconceptions where the designers explain a rule in greater clarity, and in one specific case decided that since almost the entirety of the community was playing a rule wrong, but changed the rule to match the community since it didn't take anything away. The last thing that I appreciated was a "Battlefield Tracking" printable page, that lists all the optional rules in this book, their page number, and a check box. With the amount of optional rules, it's good to have something on hand to help remember what is what.
