Fortune Favors the Bold

In 2825, ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky, the founder of the Clans, gave his exiled, warrior-led people a dream: the first Clan to return to the Inner Sphere and claim Terra, the cradle of humanity, in honorable combat would claim the title of ilClan - ruler of all the Clans. The ilClan would reestablish the venerable Star League from the ashes of old, and its Khan would become ilKhan, supreme ruler of all the Clans. Now, 326 years later, the Children of Kerensky have fought their way to Terra with the intent of fulfilling his dream. But will this dream become destiny or nightmare?

Delve into what it means to be the ilClan, and experience the tumultuous Battle of Terra, which will shake the very foundations of the Inner Sphere. Then catch a glimpse of how the Great Houses and other major powers will face the outcome of this far-reaching conflict. Tactical maps, Chaos Campaign tracks, and 'Mechs that debuted during the Battle of Terra all let you jump right into the cockpit and fight in the culmination of over three centuries of Clan history. Do you have what it takes to conquer the birthplace of humankind, or the courage to defend Terra from its enemies?

The ilClan Era begins, now what shall become of Terra and the Innsersphere? This book details in great color and detail the Clan conquest of Terra and leads us to the question of what will happen in this new age? A+

Over half this book is reading material, which details some of the events leading up to this new ilClan era and how things got to this point. Definitely worth a pickup if you're into the evolving story of Battletech.

A dry book which sets up a exciting new era

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

If you have read the hour of the wolf novel then noting part from the campaign missions and the new mechs will be new. While some of the sections are exciting most of it can sum uped as the clans fought the republic and won. The best part is the how the rest of the inner sphere reacted as it clearly sets some big show downs in the few years. One big issue is that the book does not have a Dramatis personae section explain the brief background of the key players such as Malvina Hazen as any one picking the book will be very confused why the falcons are acting very tyrannical unless they have following the lore closely. The new mechs are only clan tech but seem to cover a nice range of roles and tonnage but don't the number of configurations as other clan mechs. The art in the book ranges from great to subpar with the mechs coming out better than the rest
