Looking forward to having some one-shots and campaigns in the Mortal Realms

For AoS one shot RPG sessions
This game doesn't really work for long term RPG campaigns. After one mission, lasting two or three sessions, you'll want to roll up new characters. Still a fun game with lots of over-the-top events.

A fantastic new rpg!
I am a huge fan of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game, so my friends and I thought that we would give Soulbound a try. There are considerable differences between WFRP and Soulbound, but I am pleased to say that I enjoy those each of those differences. Cubicle 7 has written a unique and original rpg system that is much better suited to the universe of the Mortal Realms. If you are a fan of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, you really should give Soulbound a try.

A great RPG system
I think the book could have a little more illustrations, as the ones the book have are wonderful, but overall it's a good RPG ruleset and it is nicely written.

Easy to grasp d6 system allows for cinematic, high-powered dungeon crawling
I only knew the Age of Sigmar setting from the Warcry game, so it was Cubicle 7's brilliant treatment of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay that got me interested in this book. The system is amazingly easy to convey to players -- a d6 system with success on a 6, and the number of dice rolled determined by stats -- and an enviable break from the math-ier skill checks of WFRP. Character creation is equally as quick, allowing players to pick from among 23 different archetypes upon which to overlay their character's ancestry (6 are offered in this book). The book includes a fair amount of world lore and a decent bestiary -- though a half-dozen additional books are already in the pipeline to add ancestries, archetypes and settings. Where this book could do a little more for players ignorant of the world is provide more in the way of understanding day-to-day life, or to make this obviously cinematic, hero-driven world more approachable at the character level. Like, I get now what a Stormcast Eternal is, but what does it mean to humanize one through roleplay? Give me some examples of what that looks and sounds like. There are parts in the book that speak to this, but they feel a bit cursory. I'll add too while the map of the Great Parch (the world of this setting) is nicely done (it's included on the endpapers of the book) something a little less... global... would have helped again to help localize the world a bit and allow players to flesh out a better sense of identity. The Numenera books, for example, do a great take on worldbuilding sector by sector versus the top-down view you get here -- and that helps with a world as fantastical and varied as this one. Age of Sigmar is heavy here on the backstory lore, but that doesn't necessarily help ground the players in their now. All this said, I'd definitely recommend starting with the Soulbound Starter Box which address a lot of the issues here, and then taking on the core book alongside that and the PDFs adventures and setting documents available online. This is a cool book for a really nice system, however, and I am really looking forward to getting into it.

Incredible Lore and Worldbuilding!
As a newcomer to Age of Sigmar, Soulbound provided me with a deeper understanding of the Mortal Realms and their inhabitants. Even for a non-RPG gamer, this book is a fantastic resource for tabletop fans, especially those interested in the setting. As a Sylvaneth player, it was fun to imagine what an average day for my Kurnoth Hunters would look like, or what a Branchwych might do in their free time.
