When you need to know the unknown

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

An extremely complete, well laid out book full of monsters and mythos for a near infinite number of games. Well written and clear for a Keeper, the entries are detailed enough to be evocative and specific while giving you--as Keeper--a clear realm to play in and paint your own horrors. And, as two volumes, it is easier to get out and carry to the table if needed. Great stuff!

Yes, it's the Monster Manual and Deities & Demigods for Cthulhu.

First, I just want to say that these two books and the slipcover they come in are very high quality. I am consistently impressed with the quality of the materials used in these Chaosium books. And, unlike some other sellers, I'm impressed that Miniature Market does such a good job packing them for shipping so I don't end up with the annoying slightly damaged corners. The entries themselves are also very well thought out and provide everything a Keeper needs. You want monsters from simple beasts to demons, see Volume I: Monsters of the Mythos. You want Old Ones, Elder Gods, and their avatars, see Volume II: Deities of the Mythos. It's all there.

Monstrous Compendium

Chaosium has once again outdone themselves with the full-color 7E version of the Malleus Monstrorum. While I think Chaosium missed an opportunity to fix some balance issues with creatures in the book, it is an amazing resource that every Keeper will use for years to come. Plus it is of superb quality and worth every penny.
