I have an extensive collection of blue dragons and am happy to add this one to the rest. Beautiful, I love it.

Blue Dragon

Average rating of 2 out of 5 stars

The dragon itself is a nice color and posed nicely in flight. However, the dragon itself is on the small side. The base is small and the post is small and very fragile.

Good Young or Wyrmling Dragon Size

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

I think it's important to know what you are buying so first off what the other reviewers have mentioned, yes it's a medium base. The same size base as your average human character mini uses. This is surprising if you have any dragons from the Tyranny of Dragons sets, since those dragons use large bases and tower over the other minis on a table. Wing tip to wing time this blue dragon is 3 inches wide and about 2.5 inches nose to tail tip. It's only about 1/2 inch tall since kinda splayed out. Without its base the dragon fits in my palm with room to spare. The recent Nolzur's Silver Dragon released in 2017 (the one you have to paint yourself) is bigger than this one. I would consider this dragon a wyrmling or very young dragon in 5e standards. If you want large adult dragons that will wow your 5e friends on the table, I recommend checking out the dragons in the Tyranny of Dragons set. Now, all that being said, I think this is a very nice mini. The paint job is good and the pose is top-notch. I go way back, have been playing and collecting minis since 2e and in those days all the dragons and character minis were the same size, tiny. So it's nice not to have another giant dragon on the table or taking up space on your shelf. My main gripe about all these minis in this set is that they fit poorly on their little poles that hold them up. And if someone bumps the table they'll topple over. They're not terribly well balanced.

Blazing like a lightning bolt

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

First of all, the reviewer Ed is wrong, in that this dragon is NOT on a small base. It's on a medium base, which is completely fitting for the smallest of dragons. Also, like its siblings from the Elemental Evil set, it's very large for a medium mini, easily the size of a horse when compared to human characters, even without the wings. So, in my view, the size is definitely fitting for a small dragon. It's bigger than the black dragon from the same set, about the same size as the green dragon. The pose is a bit straightforward, but good. It's in the beginning of a gliding leap, body more or less straight, arms straight ahead, legs back. Yet when seem from above, the body is not rigid but twisting in "S-shape" like a fast swimming fish. The back and upper side is one of the highlights here, full of spikes and scales; even the leathery texture of the wings is very good. The tail is one of the best features, it's very long, thick and powerful-looking with very large, prominent scales, and white, bony protrusions on the sides. The profile of the creature is very good, too. The wings block this view only slightly, and you can see the broad chest, those bony spikes all along, belly scales and limbs, as well as the aggressive face. The only angle which looks slightly disappointing is the front, because of the straight pose: from the front you see very little of the creature. (That's why this picture doesn't do it full justice.) A marvelous medium dragon mini.

Nice but way too tiny.

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

The miniature itself is very well done, but unfortunatley it is too small. For a size reference, its base is the size of a standard "small" miniature, meaning it is slightly less the size of a single square on a 1" grid. The quality of the miniature, including the sculpt and the paintjob is very well done, but because its so tiny, it really only is good for representing a Dragon wyrmling, or MAYBE a young dragon. Therefore, i cannot recommend getting this mini at the current price. If it was a cheaper mini, it might be worth it.
