They have built citadels and villages over your homes and sacred spaces as they push you further into the darkness. Now is the time to rally your troops, lay waste to your oppressors, and bring forth the reign of the Shadow Kingdoms!
Shadow Kingdoms of Valeria is a dice-drafting worker placement game where each die you take from the game board directly effects the action you take. Build up the right combination of colored dice and send them to battle their strength will determine the amount of victory points you gain. Victory is assured! Buy unique monster cards to build a war machine to demolish your adversaries. When you win a battle, mark it on your campaign board to unlock new abilities on your player board and gain bonuses!

So far have only walked through it to learn the multi-player mode, then played the solo mode. Very smooth and satisfying dice drafting system. I don't go for many games with straight up fantasy worlds, but I have a couple Valeria titles now and am charmed by the Mico art. (If I want to be a human hero I'll play Siege of Valeria, then when I want to play the bad guys I'll choose this game. Neat balance.) I think this game will shine better with others than solo, but moving the quality components around will make me come back to it in either mode.

Stan Kordonskiy has an incredible design portfolio (including Dice Hospital, Rurik: Dawn of Kiev, Old West Empresario, Lockup, Endless Winter). I purchased Shadow Kingdoms of Valeria based on his pedigree alone. I'm very glad I did. The game plays smoothly and isn't difficult to learn. I'm looking forward to his next game!

Snappy dice drafting fun...
This is my first step into the Valeria series, as I'm a sucker for dice drafting games, and I'm glad I did. SKoV is a snappy dice drafting game that's over before you know it. With its good racing game feeling and its wonderful '80's / '90's heavy metal vibe art it's a fun one for any game night. Its full of constant rewards, quick moves, family weight rules, and yet enough tough decisions to make even the most hardcore gamer enjoy their time with the game. I recommend giving Shadow Kingdom time at you table.

Fun worker/die selection game with meaningful decisions to make on every turn. Every die offers different advantages, as does how you power up your board. LOVE the art work on board and cards, plays great w. 2, replayability v. good.
