The Dark Stone Hydra is a gigantic and terrifying beast! It is not only massive, but also fast and deadly as it strikes, slithering between models to change targets and snapping with all of its fanged heads! The Dark Stone Radiation that taints this creature also exudes from its body, corrupting those that stray too close, and its ability to regenerate damage offsets the fact that it loses power as you cut off its heads.
This Enemy Pack contains everything you need to add the savagely giant Dark Stone Hydra to your games of Shadows of Brimstone! A high detail plastic model of the Dark Stone Hydra is included, as well as the rules and cards needed to add it to your games.

Another great XL enemy from Flying Frog
Dark Stone Hydra is a great model. Tons of detail. As an enemy it is challenging with the variable health and regen capability. Also love that as it takes damage it's damage output drops to simulate killing each head.

A scaly threat that scales with party size.
The Dark Stone Hydra XL Enemy Pack is a solid add-on to the core game. The miniature is very detailed and was easier to assemble than the other XL Shadows of Brimstone models that I've worked on (Goliath & Harbinger). It includes cards that add the creature to the Low, Medium, and High Threat decks. The inclusion of Low Threat cards is one of the things I like most about it. You can run a posse of 1 or 2 and still be as likely to come across the DS Hydra as a full posse of 6. The Hydra's health and some of its abilities are based on the number of heroes. This keeps the enemy from being instant death for a solo hero but also makes a low threat just as deadly as a high threat for a large posse. Its combat score is based on its health, so as the enemy gets closer to zero it simulates killing 1 or 2 of the heads before the entire creature dies. I thought that was a pretty neat touch in terms of flavor. The only downside of this enemy pack is that you don't get a lot for the price. It's a minor complaint and I do not regret purchasing the DS Hydra, but throwing in a half dozen more cards related to the Hydra (Encounters, Gear, etc.) would have been nice.
