If you hear the sound of fleeing birds, snapping branches, and loud footsteps, you shall be its next victim. Pray then that your fate will be swift - for staring into its infernal gaze can plunge even the purest mind into madness.

Journey to the Mythic North and investigate four bone-chilling cases that will test your abilities to the fullest. This book contains four standalone mysteries for Vaesen, the Nordic Horror Roleplaying Game, playable on their own or as a part of a longer campaign.

In these pages you will find:

The Silver of the Sea - The death of a preacher leads the characters to the rocky western archipelago, where something strange is afoot on Wrecker Isle.

A Wicked Secret - Travel to the deep forests of northern Sweden and investigate rumors of a murderous beast in a remote village. What ancient evil lurks there?

The Night Sow - Welcome to beautiful Mölle, a city by the sea, known to many as "the heart of sin" - and now also for cold-blooded murder.

The Song of the Falling Star - A cursed child, a strange instrument and a desperate aristocrat. Travel to Arensburg on the island of Oesel and discover the horrible truth about what has happened there.

Vaesen: The Next Frontier!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

First of all, this is an extension of the Vaesen world; you will need the core Vaesen rulebook to make any sense of this at all. Fortunately I do! New to Vaesen? Think of high-fantasy plunged suddenly in the modern world; that dryad's glen has suddenly become valuable to a paper mill and…yeah, you can see bad things happening! You do need to wrap your head around the fact that this all takes place in 19th century Sweden, although a clever GM could morph it elsewhere…say Wisconsin or Minnesota (or Maine where I live!) or some other area affected by the industrial revolution. It not only has rules for running a game, but also really good tips on how to develop your own adventures. The core Vaesen book contains the basic rules and a single adventure. A Wicked Secret expands on the Vaesen universe and provides several new adventures. If you're running a campaign or even a one-shot, these adventures can help tremendously for a GM new to this game. Each are pretty cool and interesting; I can't imagine a player getting bored with any of these scenarios. I like the relatively simple system (as do my players), and the thought that went into these mysteries (as the publisher calls them). I strongly recommend this product.
