The Soviets had made use of tank turret emplacements on the Molotov and Stalin lines, and, as the tide of war begun to turn against the Germans, they started to use these spoils of war against their former owners. As early as 1942, a timber construction designed to mount the T-34 turret begun to appear in the German manual of field fortifications.
