A surprisingly short engine builder

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Furnace is a game that will stay in your head long after the game ends, which is much sooner than you'd expect from an engine builder. However, the game feels full at this short length and doesn't end too soon.

Elegance

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

There is no fat in this game, and there are challenging decisions to be made. It is an engine builder that ramps up each round. Looking forward to playing it some more.

Fairly simple engine building game that doesn't disappoint

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Furnace is a great game because it is simple to learn, has a unique bidding mechanic, and then has a little brain-busting aspect when running your production. Plus, it only takes 45 minutes with four players that know how to play. You'll likely want to play again to try and do better than your first time, but aside from the different roles, there isn't much variability in the game, so replayability is more like a 2/5 (and the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5). Other than that, this game is a great, fairly quick, not-too-heavy game of engine building. Definitely recommend having it in the collection.

Good game mechanics

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Furnace has enjoyable game play and game mechanics. The factory engine building and bidding process are very nicely done. With only five Industrialists (player characters) and five starting factories the replay value is lower than it could be with a few more card options.

I generally don't like auction games

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Great little engine builder with my favorite auction mechanic in a game, everybody wins.

Quick/Lots of fun

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

The components are fantastic. The asymmetrical roles are different for a bidding game. Lots of replay value.

Very nice engine builder

Very fun game with interesting bidding mechanism and engine building, and it plays in under an hour

Fun, easy to learn, quick to play, replayable

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This is an absolutely fun game. The game is easy to learn, it's quick to play, and has good replayability. You're essentially creating your own production line, and whoever makes the most money at the end wins. There are only a few different types of pieces and a couple of types of cards, so it's very easy to set up and clean up as well.

Such a fun mechanic. Fast game but deep strategy and engine building!

An engine builder in the purest form.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Easy to learn, and boils down what an engine builder is in its purest form. In addition to that, the bidding mechanic is quite clever and unique, allowing for more strategic consideration. The variable starting building and unique player powers work well in diversifying the game. I hope expansions come at some point!
