Great Addition to the base game
Highly recommended for large groups of players. Less claustrophobic then the original map

When You Want More
This mat is great when you hit a higher player count. A game like this needs space and this does help provide it. It does add a nice table presence and makes it easier to see & read everything.

Pretty Good
Miniatures are alright, the material is vinyl for some reason, not Neoprene as most new mats are. But it is a lot bigger and if that's what you are looking for this fits the bill.

Only get if you need the larger play space
This is a bit of a puzzling product. For the cost, you'd expect it to be in line with the quality of other game mats of similar size from other games. Instead of being neoprene like the standard is or at least should be, it's instead slightly thicker than maybe a couple of pieces of paper. There are photos of what it looks like but it isn't exactly what I expected. I think other reviewers mentioned this as well but I didn't see it before buying. It also includes what I believe are the same tokens from the Barnes and Noble exclusive edition of the game. Which is super cool...if you play with the standard board. The tokens don't work as well on the thin mat since the spaces are larger. Overall I think some people may not mind the lower quality mat since it makes the play space bigger which in this game is nice to have. But the odd addition of tokens that don't fit the mat and the lower quality of the mat itself, I can't recommend this unless you want a larger play area and don't mind the price.

For people who play the original dune game… a lot
The playmat is not a mouse pad this playmat, it is however still durable, and lays flat easily. The map is bigger than the original Dune board, so the Shield Wall piece doesn’t fit as snug as it does on the originally map. The miniatures match the size for the original board but can be substituted on the larger map. The mushroom cloud will likely be substituted on the larger map for the punch out piece from the base game, as the punch out piece doesn’t fit the enlarge area on the new map. The mini worm mouth piece is not as big as the phase indicator spaces either, but does fit the inner ring portion of the circle so not a big deal; it works just fine. The storm cloud doesn’t fit snug, but also not really a problem either. And because it’s bigger it takes up more space on the table. All that said, if you want the 3D mini pieces that comes with the Barnes and Nobles limited edition you may have missed out on like I did and/ or a mat with a larger map, and you think the price is worth the update for the amount you play, then definitely get it!

I've played Dune on both the standard board and on this mat. I have to say, the mat was a great improvement especially when playing with over 4 players. The standard board is just too small to accommodate that many players. This mat is well worth it and appears to be of good quality.

Essential Addition to Dune Game
I recently started playing the Dune base game with its excellent mounted map. The larger mat not only makes it easier to accommodate six players, it doesn't curl up along the edges. The minis add a little more flavor than the cardboard tokens, and it really stood out at a recent convention.

Big and beautiful. Can't wait to see this on the table all set up!

Thinner than I expected
This mat is paper thin, and you will need to unroll it an hour or so before the game starts. But it's durable and spill proof. So worth the cost in my opinion.

Good size and sets places for the cards. Will reduce wear and tear on the game board.
