Kabuto Sumo is a game of disc pushing insect sumo wrestling.

Step into the ring. Choose your beetle warrior. Push discs, knock pieces out, power up your special move, and strike at the right time so make the finishing move! Don't get too cocky though because you lose if your bug is knocked out first or you run out of pieces to push.

It's a mix of those quarter dozer games from the arcade and sumo wrestling. Plus each of the 8 beetle wrestlers have unique powers (and their own uniquely shaped piece) to make every game different.

One of the best dexterity games out there.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This game is fantastic. If you like dexterity games you will enjoy it. We play 10+ games in a row any time it hits the table.

Quick and Fun

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Great game to play with people who are quite familiar with board games and those that aren't. The design and build quality of the components is great as well as the art style. Take a few go's to get the hang of pushing the tiles around but after a few turns makes sense. The chaos as tiles move around the board makes for some exciting changes of balance between players but with enough predictability to plan your moves and use of your bugs skills. Overall a great game for a games night.

Not Particularly Strategic, but Exactly What I Was Looking For

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

This might not be the game for hardcore gamers looking for strategy, as the disc can move unpredictably, but I bought this game for my wife. She loves games like this and this one did exactly what we wanted. Fun little game to pass time and make it fun.

Too Simple

Average rating of 2 out of 5 stars

The game is very simple and doesn’t have enough variety for my liking. Even with the player powers, the whole concept is just too repetitive from play to play. I don’t see enough space for strategy to develop.

An instant hit

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I was introduced to this at a friend's birthday party. I didn't even get to play, but as soon as I saw it on the table, I knew I needed it in my collection and it does not dissapoint.

Enjoyable and easily replayable

Fun, sometimes short game, where luck is as much a factor as skill

Kobuto Sumo

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Great dexterity game for 2 to 4 Players. It plays quick, and doesn't take itself too seriously. The special abilities of each wrestler adds some extra variability to the game.

A win for me, but the criticism is deserved

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Really enjoying it as a family game — when played “fast and loose” it’s a blast. The production quality is outstanding and I can see myself completing the set with the expansions. But I can see that it would fall very flat as a highly tactical 1v1 with other “gamers,” and the issues of deadlocked 45 minute games are well described elsewhere. So I would only recommend if your use case is casual.

Draws non-gamers in

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this, and it's quite a spectacle. Any time I play it, someone walking by who might not really be into games, wants to give it a try. Therefore, the definition of a great gateway game EVEN IF the gameplay does wear a little thin. Just a fun little romp that doesn't overstay!

Great for kids and different modes for adults!

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

We were able to get this game out with our 5yr old and play a couple of rounds at the Junior level configuration. It is harder than it seems to knock the opponent sumos off the mat! There are other modes to play that add powers to the sumo pieces. Does not take long to set up and get started playing. Recommend to glue the sumo mat together as during travel it can come undone and over time potentially destroy the tabs that interlock (also recommended to do so in the rule book).
