Citadel Layer paints are high quality acrylic paints that provide you with a huge range of colours and tones to choose from when you paint your miniatures. They are designed to be used straight over Citadel Base paints (and each other) without any mixing. By using several layers you can create a rich, natural finish on your models that looks fantastic on the battlefield.

All Citadel paints are non-toxic, water-based acrylic that are designed for use on plastic, metal, and resin Citadel miniatures.

Great Color

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I love blue, every shade of it, but found I was lacking something brighter and this was it. Love this color, really pops on minis.

I am a Native American SIlversmith and I refuse to use turquoise but the color is beautiful

Between Blanchitsu Grim Dark , NMM, and weathering I like true contrast and vibrant colors. For My Thousand Sons, I use a three color blue, based on the Goonhammer article, because it is SOOO HATEFUL! The Gold and the Blue, and the Gold and one of three layered blues ... so much of this avocation amounts to screaming while holding a tiny paint brush! Makes Black Legion gold trim look like PRACTICE. The Ahriman Blue is for some Alpha Legion I am working on and a T'Sons / Alpha Achilles Land Raider I am assembling with both Snakes and Eyes of Ra (legitimate too, Forge World and GW receipts. I like Vallejo's (pronounced Vy - YAY! - Hoes (Spain!) metals and the Ahriman on a smooth coat of V. Chainmail Silver, and some highlighting. True Metal Metallics and some high quality blue is ... pretty cool! As for Miniature Market, Their prices are NORMAL. Shipping is what it is and only two bottles of paint out of 800-900 $US of models and material has shown up messed up and I didn't even complain. The PURCHASE AHEAD and HOLD function makes me mad, some character's manic weekend fantasy the character cannot ecide on after the fact, slows up my set, but whatever, they run a business and accounts receivable is something they can take to the bank. They got kids too, and this Hobby is so absurd, the whole notion of getting too upset is absurd! Miniature Market has always charged me a Fair Price. Stuff gets discontinued at GW, or Forge World, and SUDDENLY there is a lot of the same models available from the Nottingham (Sherwood Forest) region of England on Ebay and Amazon at twice the price. Thousand Sons new codex is coming out, and Tzaangors' price doubled, but MM's Ahriman paint stayed solid - that speaks to integrity and fair dealing. And, I would be remiss, if I did not state outright, that MM's packaging is proper, despite the two messed bottles ($8 attrition out of call it $850 in material) that is like Force Majeure! Be weird if it didn't happen. Filled some pots with Vallejo (From / Of the Valley) Glaze Medium for some metallics (bunch of Grey Knights); or, knocked out a bunch of Drukhari Wyches with Pallid Wych, and this Fuchsia Red and Bruised Plum make up - don't know if they're bruised and beat up, or gloriously HOT! Which raises some questions - and some emotions - shame, beauty, rage... smiling nodding appreciation for what is truly cool! But, I studied the work of Boris Vallejo! (Get it!) and Olivia and Moebius - from Heavy Metal Magazine days. GREAT PAINT! - YOU JUST NEED TO TRANSFER TO A PROPER DRIP BOTTLE BECAUSE CITADEL'S CONTAINERS ARE DESIGNED TO DRY OUT IN LESS THAN A YEAR!

Ahriman Blue used as a base under a tech gem color, can create such an effect on your models jewelry and glass that people will actually want to touch it to see if it is real.

Not just for Black Stone Fortress

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

The color is a Blue with a bit of a green hue that works very well as painting lines on bases of Blackstone Fortress (a Youtube video from GW a while back used this as one of the three colors to make the line look on the bases). The color is a layer paint so does not cover the same as a base, but still is opaque enough to cover black primer and is an excellent color if painting NKVD Soviets for WWII (Bolt Action, Flames of War) followed by a highlight. Very good color to have from the Citadel line.
