One of the best contrast colors

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This is my favorite color for leather. Great consistency too.

Snakebite leather is a more yellowish brown that I would typically choose for a leather-look, but it’s just as solid as any other contrast paint. Contrast paints are a great tool to add to the painting toolkit but they do take some experimentation and finesse to maximize their potential. I highly recommend anyone who uses the citadel line of contrast paints to pick up a pot of their contrast medium as well. It increases the versatility of each paint exponentially!

Contrast

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

One of the better contrast paints as far as quality and look in my opinion. Wanted to get a new bottle for some upcoming projects. If your into contrast paints this is definitely one to have.

I used this on some sashes and balls for my Blood Bowl team, and I love it.

The GW Contrast range is a huge improvement over the old Washes and Shades.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

These work great watered down over a base coat, better than the old washes. The medium used in this mix is awesome for color transitions. Technically the finish would be a semi gloss, not a true matte, but it's not obnoxiously shiny like some brands are... especially when thinned down and used sparingly, as opposed to a dip or heavy all over wash. After a heavy wash I sometimes use a paper towel, brush, or fingertip to restore highlights to raised areas. Other times it needs to be watered down. Snakebite leather has a very nice rich warm sepia down perfect for earth tones, skin, leather, parchment, and bone. It has more pigment than some of the other Contrasts, comparable to a diluted ink.

Found Treaure

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

The ability of this contrast to sharpen and accent both golds and yellows without overdarkening is amazing. I read about this color on Reddit and was disappointed by its discontinuation, but was stoked to find it on Miniature Market for an excellent price. This contrast is one of teh best for browns, leathers, yellows, and golds (absolutely amazing). Would highly recommend.

Good stuff

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

I was skeptical about the Contrast Paint line. It looked overpriced, it came in a terrible pot, and I didn't see how it would save any time over just adding a wash. You get nice coverage in just one coat, and don't really have to worry about the pooling difficulties that sometimes happens with wash application. I like these for speed painting. The container still sucks. It's a very rich and useful brown.

A quick solution

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

If you just want a way to speed paint some minis and get them on the table, this is a good solution. Works really well for barbarians and other fur and leather types. Be sure to base coat in a light color, like gray, for maximum effect.

Love the snakebite leather. Only a few contrast colors I’m not fond of but this one is a must I think.
