Citadel Contrast Paint: Wyldwood (18ml)

I'm using this for the trees in my Warcry Souldrain Forest set. Easy to use, gets in all the little books and picks out the details without having to use half the bottle on one tree. Highly recommend if you're looking for a dark tree trunk.

This Contrast paint tends to be too dark on most smaller models. Even with a pure white primer, it still looks almost black from any distance over a foot away. I recommend using a white primer and then thinning this paint before using it if you want to actually see some shade of brown other than brown-black. I have not tried it on anything larger than a standard 28mm figure, so perhaps on some large beast, it may even itself out in color saturation.

Wyldwood is very dark, so be careful about applying it too thickly as it will leave a much more limited value range when compared to other contrast paints in the line. Contrast paints are a great tool to add to the painting toolkit but they do take some experimentation and finesse to maximize their potential. I highly recommend anyone who uses the citadel line of contrast paints to pick up a pot of their contrast medium as well. It increases the versatility of each paint exponentially!

I like the various browns in contrast paint because it is the color I most often need a variety of to distinguish straps, belts, boots, and other leather accoutrements.

I decided to use this primarily as a dark Flesh color, and I really like the way it looks. Good to add some variety to my Cadian Infantry.

If one is looking to speed paint, Contrast paints can get you there. This color is very dark and can be thinned to make a few additional shades, as well. I recommend this to all level of painter.

Loving this color for fur and wood, really nice brown.
