The King's Dilemma @ 20:43

The King's Dilemma is an interactive narrative experience with legacy elements, featuring several branching storylines leading to many possible finales with an evolving deck of event cards at its core.

Players represent the various Houses leading the government of the Kingdom of Ankist. You will draw one card from the Dilemma deck each round and expereicne the game story as it unfolds. Each card will pose a problem that the Council will have to resolve on the King's behalf. As members of the King's inner circle, your decisions will determine how the story proceeds and the fate of the kingdom. Each even only happens once: you will discuss and bargain with the other players and finally you will have to make a choice, determining the outcome, progressing the game story, and possibly unlocking more events.

You will have to keep the kingdom going, while also trying to advantage your own House; this power struggle may lead the kingdom into war, famine, or riot, or it could generate wealth and well-being. The thing is, each decision has consequences...

Will you act for the greater good, or think only of yourself?

A Dark Fantasy Story Game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This game is like a political poker game. Your choices have consequences on the plot and people's lives. Get a group that can commit to the stakes of the story and also get along as friends. Tons of fun!

This is a great game. Following the recommendation from multiple forums, we played this at full player count of 5 with everyone playing very differently based on the chosen houses. There is also a lot of discussions post-games which is always a good sign. I would say that this game is probably better for groups who are willing to commit to quasi-role playing especially with some of the houses really forcing the players to portray some unsavory territories. But our group really enjoy this particular aspect of the game, especially when not all the players have the welfare of the kingdom in mind.

Easy to learn - an adventure to remember.

We talk about KD constantly. We have not yet finished the game but we’ve been pouring through it. We all have dreams about it. It’s bad. But in a good way.

Engrossing and Fun

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

King’s Dilemma is fantastic, provided you have the right group. If your group is prepared to commit to the full campaign and role playing their house, this game provides dozens of hours of entertainment.

Political and Moral Intrigue!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

My group of five had so much fun with this game that we've been trying to think of ways to replay it so we can justify buying a second copy and playing again! If you're into political intrigue and moral decision making that directly impact the path and ending of your story, this is the game for you. We found ourselves making decisions WE would never make because it was what our House would do, and it was wonderful to see those decisions play out throughout the REST of the game! Unlike other story games that have you make a decision but really only have one small consequence, The King's Dilemma will continue to punish you over and over for your choices, and you'll love every moment of it. I HIGHLY recommend watching the Shut Up & Sit Down review before buying so you can get a good idea of what to expect. This is an amazing game but you have to go into knowing what it is going to ask of you. That will help you choose the right people to play with and also help remind you to keep your cool when you get to hard decisions. This is the kind of game that could easily turn into fighting if you aren't playing with the right people, specifically because of the way they bring you all together while somehow simultaneously pitting you against each other. But don't let that put you off of it. This is an amazing game and all five of us, seasoned farmers with large libraries that we are, agreed that this was one of the ABSOLUTE BEST gaming experiences we've ever had. We were so hooked we played through the whole game in two days straight because we just couldn't stop! Our playthrough took about 18 hours, but that length will vary based on the decisions you make and when specific cards are drawn. But this game. I honestly can't reconned it enough.

Fun but the legacy component isn't entirely necessary

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Very fun game. Unlike anything I have played before. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 out of is that they did not do enough to justify the game game being a legacy game. That being said, the voting system and the way manufactured conflict happens is really ingenious. I have had a great time playing it with my friends.

I haven't played it yet, but it got excellent reviews and was on sale at a great price, so I bought it.

YES! Interesting story with a lot of debate.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

If you're looking for actual gameplay, then this might not be the game for you. If you are looking for a growing narrative that you decide which way is going and some intense debating and voting then this is for you! While it might seem like all you are doing is takling, the narrative is so well written and so interesting that we can't stop playing it. This is actually my second copy bought since I wanted to play the game with another group. Also you can easily houserule it for 6 people, maaaybe even 7 if you really want to.

The King's Dillema had me and my group engaged non-stop. The structure of the game allows for you to become invested in your personal goals.
