Jokkmokk: The Winter Market

The core of Jokkmokk is a set collection. the other main mechanism is a timeline for turn order which takes place on a rondell. Why is it introductory? You only have one thing to do, and that is to collect cards to score points and possibly trigger some actions when you collect them. There are no resources to manage, nor is there any other form of purchasing. The owner of the meeple that is furthest back on the line around the Rondell takes their turn by moving that meeple forward on the rondell to the space containing the next card they would like to collect. they then collect that card, resolve any instant actions it may have and add it to their collection. Before the next meeple moves, the current player token is moved up to the space directly behind the last meeple in line and all empty card spaces without a meeple are then filled. The game comes with 18 different types of cards to collect during gameplay. With only 6 types being used in a game, these cards offer a good variety of difficulty and replayability. The rule book gives several suggestions on card mixes to use but you can freely choose your own to fit your needs. Each type of card has a different way of scoring with two types giving negative points and one type that forces you to discard a card from your collection. The game has also been produced with sustainable packaging and components which is always a plus. Shout out to the production crew!

The gameplay is fun and engaging. Easy setup and comprehensible rules! Technically you're doing the same things, moving the meeples around and taking cards. But there are other cards you can add to the game to change the replayability. Also, the art is simple yet nice! Most importantly, there are multiple scoring mechanisms to snowball your scores! In short, it's a must-have family game to spice up your winter season!!!
