A mass-battle fantasy game in which players can field combined armies of humans, elves, goblins, dwarves, and more, and develop that army over the course of a campaign.

Empires have fallen, and the land is broken. The great oathmarks that once stood as testaments to the allegiances and might of nations have crumbled into ruin. In this lost age, fealty and loyalty are as valuable as gold and as deadly as cold iron, and war is ever-present.

Created by Joseph A. McCullough, designer of Frostgrave and Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago, Oathmark is a mass-battle fantasy wargame that puts you in command of the fantasy army you've always wanted, whether a company of stalwart dwarves or a mixed force with proud elves, noble men and wild goblins standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the battle-line. Fight through an integrated campaign system and develop your realms from battle to battle, adding new territories, recruiting new troop types and growing to eclipse your rivals - or lose what you fought so hard to gain and fall as so many would-be emperors before you.

In addition to these rules, you will need the following items to play Oathmark:

Miniatures - Each player needs an army with a minimum of about 30 figures.

Table - A 2' x 4' table is recommended for games where each player has about 30 figures in their army. For larger games (100+ figures per army), a 4' x 6' is recommended.

Terrain - It is acceptable to play Oathmark on an empty table, but most players find the game more visually appealing and tactically interesting when they include terrain.

Dice - Oathmark uses ten-sided dice exclusively. Each player needs five ten-sided dice; ideally, four of one color and one of a different color.

Measuring Device - All distances in Oathmark are given in Imperial measurements, so you need a ruler or tape measure marked with inches and feet.

Kingdom Sheet & Army Sheet from the back of this book. These are essentially blank worksheets you can use to record all relevant information about your kingdom and specific army. Extra copies are available for download on the publisher's website.

Good Game, Beautiful Book, Many Typos

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

This is a good low fantasy LotR-style wargame with a fun kingdom-building element and campaign mode. The production value is high. The rules are not the most user-friendly, as they are often buried in weird sections, like many European wargames, and the book has many typos, including a layout error that covers an entire line of text with an image. If you download the errata, the book is great and would be 4 stars. If the units had more variation, it would be 5 stars.
