Fantastic

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

So easy to learn my six year old can do it. ... Granted, he's a very smart six year old. Summoner Wars hits all the points I like in a two player game- strategically deep, fairly short (35-60 minutes), simple rules, fun mechanics, and interesting situations. This starter set intrigued me enough that we'll likely get the main set. We're going to see if a 2v2 works then!

Summoning My Friends

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

To each and to only the Orcs fall the followed halls. The drawing bellows of their cords of vocal trembling. The Flames envelope them the retired witches and warlocks wander. Amazing card play even my gaming partner who isn't into card games liked it. Back and forth, left, right, attack, card effects. That's the game 5/5. The only problem with any game like this is replayability. Most of the game is exciting because of discovering new techniques and faction specific abilities. After a game or three you've pretty much had enough of the starter set and kinda figured it out. The only way to chase the dragon is to buy more sets and more decks. So it can be a money sink and I'm sure The Dice Tower would say that makes this box an incomplete but fun game. That being said! The barrier to entry is like $20-30 and you'll definitely have fun with this or one of the other starter sets. I'm just not going to be making Summoner Wars my lifestyle game after buying this.

Summoner Wars 2E - Starter Set

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I bought this to compliment the main set. Getting two more factions, another playmate (even if it is just paper) and more dice are nice as well. I would definitely recommend the main set for first time buyers above this one because of the variety of factions. This is still a great deal and essential for this game.

Great intro to SW and great value

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Summoner Wars 2E is a great game and this set serves as a lower priced entry where you can try out the game before deciding if you want the master set or additional decks. That said I think it stands on its own as a two player game even if you don't buy any other Summoner Wars content. These two factions are a fun matchup with their mechanics. The one knock on the experience is the paper playmat but again it keeps the cost down and if you're playing enough to be bothered by it then it is probably worth purchasing the master set. If you're already a summoner wars player then this is a no brainer to buy. Two new faction decks on their own without the playmate and tokens is still worth this price.

I remember playing the original version of this game when I was a kid and it was one of the first games I ever played. This new edition does it Justice and it is very fun to play.

More Factions, Good Factions

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

More choices is always better. Both factions are good and I like playing both.
