Circadians: First Light is a competitive, dice placement and resource management game, with variable player powers. The aim of the game is to lead a team of researches on the recently discovered plant of Ryh. Players will need to manage their crew (dice) to visit various parts of the planet for trade, farming, construction, and research. Players will score points for negotiation with the locals, harvesting resources for the depository, upgrading their research bases, exploring the planet, and collecting gems. The game is played over 7 rounds. At the end of the final round, the player with the most points is declared the winner.
We were light years from our home, galaxies away, when we first discovered this ancient celestial body. A planet filled with intriguing intelligent lifeforms, not too unlike our own. Some built kingdoms below the surface of the green seas, while others controlled the desert-filled plains and cliffs. Among them we found scientists, inventors, farmers, traders, and fighters.
While our presence has been unsettling for some, we have had very few incidents with the locals. Still, we Circadians, Earth's famed explorers, must do what we can to ensure peace. We must respect this world and its hosts. The heads of Moontide passed down orders from above. We are to open negotiations with the three clans, in hopes of gaining their favor, along with our own security while on the planet. We must also collect organic samples for the depository on Moontide.
This is new ground for all of us. But we must be brave and resourceful. The future of the Circadians depends on it.
This 2nd Edition features refreshed artwork, a larger box and some very minor gameplay tweaks. It includes an updated rulebook with clearer terminology and two gameplay variants. It also includes the Allies Expansion in the box (as did the English First Edition).

I love dice rolling
What more can i say? I love to roll dice and love the way SJ Macdonald uses the dice placement mechanism and the leader cards are awesome.

A Favorite
A little underrated gem. Plays well at all counts and solo is very good. A little bit of a table hog.

Tight dice worker placement with high variability
I was destined to enjoy this game, since it's from the Garphill factory. I've come around the art quite a bit more over the past few years and was glad to add this to the collection next to the other series. The game uses action programming and dice worker placement to fulfill contracts for points. It feels super tight with minimal room for error the first time you play. The next couple times things seem to breathe a bit as you get into the rhythms. The hardest aspect of the game is producing resources at the end of each round, then having to rely on all of those for the core action portion of the next round. Having an individual player power really makes the game shine, and there's also a very smooth solo mode that plays quickly the more you know the game.

Strategic goodness
I’m hooked on worker placement games right now. And this one hits all of the marks. A. There is an amazing insert that keeps everything organized so it’s easier to get to the table. 2. The screen doubles as a player aid and the solo bot’s board also has an aid on it. D. The rules are clear even though I had to refer to them a lot. That’s on me though. The dice are pretty, translucent colors with white pips. Praise the dice gods for white pips. I really like the color scheme for the art. The boards are good quality. The game play has a lot of fun choices. It’s a brain burned and I really like it. A. 2. D. Name that movie.

Better than the First Edition
As the title says. Best part of this edition really is that the game has been shortened. Some people may have felt that the first edition dragged a bit towards the end but this edition remedies that. The components are better as well.
