Transformers RPG: Core Rulebook

I skimmed the book, focusing mostly on character creation and thought it would be fun to make and use characters for this game. The art is beautiful throughout, though felt the book itself could have used some more time in the editing office. There is some redundancy and sometimes things aren't laid out as clearly as they could be, but as a veteran of many rpg's, was able to grok things for the most part. Examples of game mechanics would be helpful too. I always appreciate when any rpg gives a combat example in the combat section, detailing how a short combat is resolved. This book lacked that. Also, while one can play with this core book, there are a lot of rules and content missing. No rules on creating Decepticons, no stats for the famous Autobots, and no combiner rules. Recommend this for fans of the source material, but only if on sale.

This is a really nice book filled with beautiful artwork. If you are a transformers fan, in particular the G1 era, this is a great book to have. If you also like RPGs then it is an even better book. I haven't played a game with the rules yet. From reading they might be a little on the complex side but nothing outrageous. A lot of dice will be used. It is a little odd they repeat some rules that apply to everyone in many places which could of been simply stated once. That is my only nit-pick so far.

beautiful book, well constructed with a nice bookmark ribbon. The rules are not too light, and I could see my players really liking the 'crunchiness' of the system. Not too heavy, but enough. I look forward to giving it a shot...I am thinking a one shot to start and see if my players gel with the setting.

A nice role playing game system with beautiful images and an easy explanation of how to play the game. The system gives you enough options to build just about any generation one style autobot you can think of minus combiner units. The core book has a short Mission at the end just to get your autobots started on playing your campaign . the only thing that's missing from this book is a couple of playable Autobots listed in the book for those that want to try a pre generated character for a session or two before you decide what you want to build.

My favorite thing about this rule book is the focus on G1 transformers and not the later series and/or Michael Bay movies. Simple ruleset, amazing artwork. The book is laid out well and the basics of the game are spelled out fairly clearly.

Interesting new system Lots of variety for making new characters. Plenty of room for expansion.
