The Bones material is a polymer plastic. It is light-weight and slightly flexible, and is very durable. You can paint a Bones figure straight out of the package, and that paint job will also be pretty durable. Bones figures are as detailed as metal figures, for a much lower cost. Bones miniatures are produced with integral (built-in) bases, but it is easy to cut the miniature off of the base if you prefer to put it on something else. It is also easy to cut the figures apart to convert them into different poses or change weapons.

Great basic wizard/sorcerer/mage
Actually got this in one of the Reaper miniature painting kits, and it's great. Definately falls into the category of simple, yet still good. Was nice practice for doing finer details on the face, and the detail elements at the top of the staff. Would absolutely recommend, either for your own character or as an NPC.

Agreed, a fantastic wizard mini.
This mini is perfect for practically any spellcaster. the way it's molded makes it very easy to paint, but there's still potential for a bit of detail on the face. Undeniably a great mini for the party!

Great for first paint
This is one of the best miniatures I picked up for painting with my friends. For several of them having never painted miniatures, this one provided a fairly easy canvas and looked great after a few coats of paint. I painted one myself, and just fell in love with the design. I have been trying to practice my highlighting techniques, and this elven mage has plenty of folds and not so small details to paint. Looks great as a PC or even as a wizard NPC, and I would recommend for a first time painter, since it is very easy to work with.
