Dark Heaven Bones: Fly Demon

As my players advance in level, I need more potent opponents. A flock of Chasme demons was just the thing in the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth. The Reaper miniatures make excellent Chasme, and are very reasonably priced. The miniatures are very durable, slightly flexible, and easily painted. My one criticism is that you must scrub the miniatures carefully with a toothbrush and dish soap before painting - there is often a small amount of mould residue on them; paint may not cling to certain spots on the miniature unless scrubbed.

Though I prefer metal, I like the idea of cheaper plastic minis. However, the bones line is molded in a soft, flexible plastic. This makes it extremely difficult to trim. You cannot file it and even cutting parting lines with an xacto leaves fuzzy plastic threads behind. If it were hard plastic, I'd like it. But it's not, so I don't.

They're roughly the right size, and while they're unpainted, they're still good-looking and a much better deal than the pre-painted Wizkids chasme models.

Excellent model. Good pose, good detail, great price.

Plastic can be flimsy, but for the price you get a nicely detailed big fly mini. The plastic does tend to be low detail at some points, but for the price of Reaper models it isn't a large deal. For RPG use, I suggest adding your own base. The model has a prebuilt stand, but leaving the model on that makes it top heavy and I prefer having a larger base for the model to sit on.
