The Bones material is a polymer plastic. It is light-weight and slightly flexible, and is very durable. You can paint a Bones figure straight out of the package, and that paint job will also be pretty durable. Bones figures are as detailed as metal figures, for a much lower cost. Bones miniatures are produced with integral (built-in) bases, but it is easy to cut the miniature off of the base if you prefer to put it on something else. It is also easy to cut the figures apart to convert them into different poses or change weapons.

Out of the box they are very cool - if you like minis to have standard bases (those black discs that come with many of them), you will find that some in this box are an awkward size for most discs. Otherwise very fun and interesting.

The sculpts carry good details, and the models are pretty cool, in that they're translucent. Incidentally, they are also very soft plastic and blue-colored, making they look like delicious candy. They're not candy, tho. Also, take note that two of the models depict single ghosts, two models are of two ghosts on the same base, and another is of three ghosts in a single base.

Get in the SPIRIT -- OR -- Be a high flier in The Spirit of St. Louis!!!
I used this quite effectively dazzling the good party with lost spirits of the dead!!! Incorporeal and unreal to shock their reality!!! Spooky to the maximum, eerie to the minimum. The PCs remained mesmerized while the spirits spoke truth in jest and rhyme and prose. It was real fun. Next I will used this when the game runs late; you know, on the graveyard shift! Cryptic communication at best and vampiric threats at worse and portents of evil in-between!!!

Fairly standard
These are your run-of-the-mill translucent plastic figures, no real painting required (though a wash or dry brush could add flavor, if you like). There are several figures, but their bases do not all conveniently fit into 1 inch M sized bases. I ended up grouping a few of the more awkwardly shaped ones together on a 2 inch size L base to make a ghost swarm, but that wasn't my intent when purchasing these minis.
