The Bones material is a polymer plastic. It is light-weight and slightly flexible, and is very durable. You can paint a Bones figure straight out of the package, and that paint job will also be pretty durable. Bones figures are as detailed as metal figures, for a much lower cost. Bones miniatures are produced with integral (built-in) bases, but it is easy to cut the miniature off of the base if you prefer to put it on something else. It is also easy to cut the figures apart to convert them into different poses or change weapons.

More detailed than it seems
I didn't notice all the little details he has until I started painting him. He definitely has a lot of tiny parts that are fun to paint.

Need a soldier? This is the one
I picked this figure up at my local store after picking up several of the other soldier minis that reaper has in this line, and absolutely love this figure. If you need a big hulking heavy to back up your squad, this is the figure for you. Painting was a cinch, and the figure doesnt have any noticeable defects with flashing, nor did any of the figures I pick up need any boiling. Its a pretty solid figure, and unlike some of the other figures in this line,he is not attached solidly to his gun.
