The Bones material is a polymer plastic. It is light-weight and slightly flexible, and is very durable. You can paint a Bones figure straight out of the package, and that paint job will also be pretty durable. Bones figures are as detailed as metal figures, for a much lower cost. Bones miniatures are produced with integral (built-in) bases, but it is easy to cut the miniature off of the base if you prefer to put it on something else. It is also easy to cut the figures apart to convert them into different poses or change weapons.

Soft Detail But Good Mini Anyway
Her face is typical of standard Bones miniatures in that it's smooth and relatively featureless, and the details are a bit soft. Otherwise, for the price? You can't beat Bones miniatures and I always try to have a bunch of them on hand for original color scheme ideas.

Bad to the Bone Barbarian Babe (sorry, going for alliteration)
A really nice sculpt loaded with detail. She painted up very nicely. A good imposing pose with an improbably large sword. Almost falls into the chainmail bikini trope, but she's a barbarian.... right??? At least the rest of her is covered with leather armor and hides.
