Tidal Blades: Heroes of the Reef - Part One

I was blown away by this game! The artwork initially drew me in but the gameplay and mechanics are just as good. This is essentially a worker placement game with dice manipulation, but it feels like so much more. There are many options about where to place your workers, but none of the spaces are overly complicated. Still, decisions are tough. You have a very limited number of actions to acquire the dice you need for monster battles or to convince the Judge of your skills in the arena. The game feels very thematic and each playable character is unique and asynchronous. More than anything, this game is just pure fun!

My game group all seemed to enjoy the game. It works like most worker placement games with a few twists. We enjoyed the many choices you have. The locations became very valuable toward the end of the game. Areas you need can be taken by others in the round. I liked the theme of the game and felt I was in a competition on a tropical island. The components are top-notch and seem like they will hold up to many plays. The visual aesthetics of the game are very pretty.

Get your competitor rolling and you do not have a lot of rounds. Everdell token system to get more as the game goes on. Visually pleasing and just getting the first of your personal goals could win the game for you. Looking forward to playing this again

I’m a big fan of dice rolling and worker placement so this game was on my radar for a while. The retail version is a great production. And the gameplay is fun there is a little downtime between turns. The failing upwards system is great! Lots of moments to cheer dice rolls.
