The power of House Lannister is on full display as the Five Kings ready for war. Jaime Lannister's legendary bladework spells death for enemy heroes that dare oppose him in the field, while the Mountain crushes enemy legions underfoot. Cersei and Tyrion Lannister's machinations beyond the battlefield provide hidden advantages towards victory that opponents never see coming.
Lannister Guards and Halberdiers are kitted with the finest arms and armor money can buy, and Clegane's Brigands roam enemy territory unhindered, ready to strike unsuspecting foes in a brutal charge. Lannisters always pay their debts, and in the War of Five Kings, some debts can only be paid in blood.
The Clegane Brigands are supplied on 50mm bases. The other miniatures are supplied on 30mm bases.

FANTASTIC
Of all the miniature games I have played- ASOIAF is by far the most fun, AND the most beginner friendly. This box includes 3 infantry units (12 models each) 1 cavalry unit (4 mounted models) as well as a few (~10) minis for commanders, attachments, and non combat units. The minis are highly detailed and very easy to paint, look fantastic together on a table, and come pre-assembled so you can start playing the minute you buy the box. Common games are 40 pt armies, and this box will yield an army just under that, but with one additional unit box you have a complete Lannister army for this game.

Rains of Castamere are ready to play
It's a great starter set with 4 great heroes (2 commanders, 2 NCUs) and some solid units like all of the ASoIaF starter sets. I specifically really love all of the sculpts here.

Great Sculpts
the Lannister Starter has a lot of great models. the only downfall is the lack of a good Tyrion model in the whole range.

All new sculpts!
I bought these for the miniatures and haven't played it according to the game rules. I already had the original Stark vs. Lannister Starter Set and had to look up whether the miniatures were all duplicates. The CMON literature states: The Guardsmen and Halberdiers both include new sculpts for the units. It turns out that all the sculpts are new--even those of the main named characters. Unlike the original combo set, the Lannisters now have mounted units. If somebody is buying sets for the miniatures game, and already has the Stark vs. Lannister Starter Set (which may still available for $64), this still provides more units at a bargain price compared to the expansions. At MiniatureMarket's regular price (at the time of this review), the Lannister Starter Set is $88 for 47 miniatures; which works out to $1.87/miniature. It comes with 11 Halberdiers and 1 Assault Veteran. The Halberdier expansion has 13 miniatures for $31; $2.58/miniature.

Solid Starter
Whether you play ASOIAF or just want soldiers for D&D, these molds are great, and come with a good quantity of pieces, especially if you can get it at the $60 price amount.

The sculpts are extremely well done and I like the updated poses on the guardsmen and the halberdiers. Jaime and Cersei look incredible. It's a great value.
