A Song of Ice & Fire: House Stark - Starter Set

ASOIAF is a great rank and flank tactics game with fun minis, a strong theme, and a game loop that is simple to understand but offers good tactical depth. My wife likes it too so that's a plus!

Such fantastic upgraded miniature sculpts to the original two player core set. Definitely worth a get to add new units or start a new faction.

A great starter set with nicely resculpted models form the 2 player starter. The Sworn swords are much better.

I bought these for the miniatures and haven't played it according to the game rules. I already had the original Stark vs. Lannister Starter Set and had to look up whether the miniatures were all duplicates. The CMON literature states: The Sworn Swords and Umber Berserkers both include new sculpts for the units.. It turns out that all the sculpts are new--even those of the main named characters. One odd change is that the Starks no longer have mounted units as they did in the original combo starter. If somebody is buying sets for the miniatures game, and already has the Stark vs. Lannister Starter Set (which may still available for $64), this still provides more units at a bargain price compared to the expansions. At MiniatureMarket's regular price (at the time of this review), the Stark Starter Set is $88 for 56 miniatures; which works out to $1.57/miniature. It comes with 22 Sworn Swords and 2 Sworn Sword Captains. The Sworn Sword expansion has 13 miniatures for $31; $2.58/miniature.

I have had the Starks vs Lannisters Kickstarter set for some time now. It is a great way to get into the game. This updated Stark Starter, however, is what any prospective Stark player wants to be purchasing for themselves. The updated sculpts are excellent, the poses are more varied, and the ruleset is brought up to 2021 (some of the cards are now outdated by the Season 1 update but that is minor). I had wanted to purchase the Karstark Spears to round out my army but when I saw the excellent deal Miniature Market was showcasing on this starter, with that unit included in the box, I knew what I had to do.

I already had the Lannister vs Stark starter set, so I really didn’t have to get the Stark starter set but these reworked miniature are totally worth getting the box alone. All the poses are more dynamic than the original set and my Stark units will now look more interesting on the table.

Awesome price for amount of minis and game components. No damage and always great timing!

the army it comes with is competitive out of the box. the game overall is amazing and very dyslexic friendly (low on reading with clear easy-to-read unit cards).

The Stark faction starter has everything a single player needs to start playing a game. the updated sculpts from the old two-player starter set are just amazing, really showing how far CMON has come in just a few years.
