Everdell: Pearlbrook Expansion

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

I love Everdell, and own and have played with the Bellfaire and Spirecrest expansions. The second edition Pearlbrook expansion has most of the collector's edition upgrades but has plastic pearls. I played with 3 people, and the game felt very different compared to the base game and the other two expansions. I'm unsure how much of the difference in feeling had to do with the specific starting hand/meadow/forest cards, and how much had to do with the addition of pearls, adornments, and the river locations. I'll definitely play it again (to see if the experience is the same), but my first play was more difficult to get most people's cities started, as the addition of pearls tended to eat into the ability of the players to get other resources and then consequently their ability to build the city. Overall the game was still fun, but it did feel different compared to the other expansions.
